When is CO2 Beneficial?

I remember reading that there is a time where you can take advantage of high co2 levels when it comes to casings, but I don't remember where or what I read that said that. Is there a time where my casings should be completely covered so that no CO2 escapes?

No, you want gas exchange (different to FAE) at all times.
It isn't that CO2 is beneficial, it is just that mycelium vegetates in presence of high levels of CO2 (it "imagines" it is underground) and when CO2 levels lower(it "imagines" it reached the surface) it begins fruiting. That is why we introduce FAE to stimulate pinning.

That makes sense, but I clearly remember reading about how CO2 can help in some other way.. maybe I'm just crazy.

Well, you can supplement plant growth by adding CO2. Mebbe you got mixed up.
Or maybe there is another use for CO2. It wouldn't surprise me. This hobby has so many variables.
Let's see what one of the experts hands say...

High CO2 levels are beneficial during colonization. It prevents most of your substrate from being turned into CO2. Without proper covering, up to 50% or more of the carbon in your substate will be released as CO2 gas by the mycelium.
In addition, many competitor fungi can't thrive in the high CO2 environment, thus it helps favor for mushroom mycelium. RR

Wouldn't high co2 levels also help increase the temperature?

Why? They are totally independent factors.
Wait... do you mean because it is a greenhouse gas? Well, you could say that the extra CO2 abosrbs more infrared light being emmited and so the air warms up, but the effect will be negligible. If on a planetary scale an increase in CO2 causes an increase in a few degrees on such a small system I really doubt it has a noticeable effect.
On the other hand, I'm not a physicist, so maybe I'm wrong
