Learn from my mistake

I recently went searching for Hpoo. I found a horse farm, asked permission and started gathering what I thought was fresh poo. ***** Be careful, poo may look fresh, but it takes maybe 6hrs or less and bad things happen. The bad things are bugs, two types: flies and dung beetles. I filled a tupperware bin with 15-20lbs of Hpoo, and "what the FU**" the bugs came out of everywhere, thousands of them. I didn't even want to mess with it any longer so I tossed it all in the garden compost pile. This morning I went searching again and found a wonderful miniature horse farm( this guy takes care of his horses, feeds them grains, alfalfa, hay, the best of everything that is wanted in good poo). I'm allowed to have as much as I want, and now I only pick it if I see it falling from the horses ass--NO BUGS!

I always like to think about the conversation where you go to the farmer and ask "you mind if i have some of your horses shit... nithe that old stuff, i want fresh warm shit"

The farmers are probably the only ones who will understand you. They know all about it's pooey goodness.
Non gardeners are the worst. My GF used to freak out when I went poo hunting, thought I was disgusting and couldn't face the idea of eating something that grew on shit. She only touched stuff that had grown on pf cakes.

Actually it was sooo easy. Simply told the old farmer that my daughter(mythical) was doing a project for a science fair and we were growing white button mushrooms. I explained the whole process, spores, myc, poo, shrooms. He loved the idea, he even offered to help gather the poo. ( I'll hate myself in the morning)---NOT! Free fu***** perfect Hpoo. But, I will follow through and grow some white buttons, it is only respectable, I truly feel kind of bad for the lying. Any one know where to get some white button mush spores?

you can tell a farmer anything you want for the shit... they have to pay a company to come dispose of whatever they can't get rid of for free.
that being said, you don't want fresh poo, you want poo that's been aged for a couple months in the field so that it's not so "green" (nitrogen rich).

I think the OP wants to age it himself but without all the bugs.
He did mention he had a garden and a compost pile.

well, in that case, any "age" manure would be fine, bugs or not. Remember though, that it's still considered a "green" until it's about 3-6 months aged so if you plan to throw it into a compost, make sure to add about 3x as much "browns" (hay, shredded leaves, newspaper, cardboard, etc.) by volume.

That's the worst possible thing you could do. If you SEARCH for horse manure teks, you'll find you should only pick up manure from the field that has been field aged by the sun and leached by the rain. You should't be picking up anything less than several months old. NEVER collect fresh manure. It's worthless. RR

Useless unless he is chucking it into his compost pile for future use or aging it himself, no?

OK, OK, OK, so what the hell do I do with it? I get more damn confused by the minute. I do compost--alot, for my garden. I'll just keep collecting and composting. Cool? The good farmer also has his own compost pile cooking he was more than willing to share that, would that be a better sub.?

Some people put the poo out on a tarpaulin and water it with the hose, let it dry, water it again, let it dry and repeat a few more times. What you need to do is get rid of any ammonia and other unwanted substances in the poo. You don't want those, you want the partially digested plant material.
http://www.shroomery.org/8395/Using-poo-101
This is what you want to do.

I usually take hpoo nugs and put them in a large burlap sack and set the burlap sack in the corner of my flower bed, and take the water hose, insert into the opening of the sack and wrap lashing around the top of the sack to hold the hose in the bag, then turn the water spigot on about 1/3 flow. After about 20 minutes, I turn the water off and pull the hose out, and tie the bag up tight and twist the top to ring the water out. After I get all the water out that I can, I step on top of the bag to get the last bit out. Then I move the bag of wet hpoo to another flower bed and do the same thing. About 3 rinses like this gets most of the ammonia out...And the leaching water does wonders for my shrubs and plants.... After I squeeze the water out to the best of my ability, I spread it out evenly on an old shower curtain on the floor of my garage with a halogen work light shining on it and a fan blowing. After about two days, it's ready to pasturize.
