Not exactly. But once a mushroom gets to a certain point you can notice it is growing much faster. I've checked on some, then a few hours later and they were bigger noticeably! It's beautiful.

wait so does that mean that you can pick a pin and it will have the same potency as its full grown counterpart?

no... they have the same number of cells but not of material.. cells get bigger by filling themselves with stuff..
Quote:
How fruit-body cell enlargement occurs, is that the mycelium pumps moisture by capillary action into the fruit-body cells, hyper- expanding, and inflating them with water. The same way a balloon expands exponentially in size, when you fill it with water.
Its not just water...

On aborts and potency.
Gram per gram, aborts are more potent than fully grown shrooms BUT and its a big but a fully grown shroom can weigh 30 grams easily and a pin maybe wheighs 0.3 grams.
So, in this example the fully grown shroom is 100 times heavier that the abort. And no abort is 100 times stronger that a fully grown shroom.
If you somehow managed to get 30 grams of aborts, they would be stronger than that one 30 gram mushroom, but imagine the amount of fully grown mushrooms you could of got off those 90 aborts if they had grown to full size ....
2700 grams or 95 ounces or 6 pounds!!!!!!!!!!

I do feel inspired today. Must be because my flatmates left today and I'm all on my own, in my underwear (I live with 3 chicks so I can't do it normally) with a huge chilled beer next to me and trying to make my mind up to what kind of cultivation tek I'm going to try next.
I think it's going to be spawnbags. I really want to try those.

If your shrooms seem to be taking ages to grow then ur cakes or casings could be dehydrated.
On all my grows so far, once the i get pins that are about a few inches long they really start to grow.
I heard RR say that slow growth can mean lack of moisture.
If its cakes u can sit it in a saucer of water overnight to let em sook up moisture, and check your humidity is good,. Also FAE is very important if not most important

ummm... a metabolism?
I'm sorry to say you are wrong. Breathing can be defined as gas exchange (as done by our lungs) or as respiration (burning O2 to get energy). Plants do both. They exchange gases (both CO2 and O2) and they also burn oxigen. The fact that they produce more oxigen (during photosynthesis) than they actually burn doesn't mean they don't use oxigen.
Mushies on the other hand, as you have already said, don't use CO2, in fact it's a waste product of their metabolism.
