Classic Hip Hop.
Always wanted a classic hip hop station. Maybe some underground/alternative, but chiefly old skewl.

man, radio sucks so bad these days!
i want more psychedelic rock on the radio, more death metal and thrash (SLAYER), more jam bands, more of everything that is not on the radio right now!
we have these classic rock stations, but they play the exact same 50 songs they have been playing for the last 10 years, it sucks so bad! well, Alice Cooper has his syndicated show that airs around here and he plays some good stuff every now and then.
omg, the commercials on the radio are so hideously annoying it forces me to listen the the college stations which play 80%shit. but on thursdays they play 4hrs of the hardest rock and metal, it's the best 4hrs of the week as far as the radio is concerned.

more jazz stations??? I already know of 3 jazz stations in my area, I think thats enough..
I would probably pick a station that played exclusively good electronic...house, idm, d&b, ambient and so on

Its not so much a particular genre that the radio lacks,
Its really that we need more local, independent stations.
I remember when radio stations weren't all monopolized by some huge corparate empire, and they all played really good stuff. The DJs played whatever they wanted to. They even took requests. Radio stations catered to niche markets more, they weren't trying to have universal mass appeal. So there was a station that played strictly metal, industrial, and punk as opposed to mainstream rock, just for example.
Now Clearchannel owns everything, the DJs have zero control, playlists are strictly promotional shit being pushed by major labels. THAT is the problem with radio.
-------------------- "America touts itself as the land of the free, but the number one freedom that you and I have is the freedom to enter into a subservient role in the workplace. Once you exercise this freedom you've lost all control over what you do, what is produced, and how it is produced. And in the end, the product doesn't belong to you. The only way you can avoid bosses and jobs is if you don't care about making a living. Which leads to the second freedom: the freedom to starve." - Tom Morello

Me? I'd love a station (Australia has terrible radio) with either progressive/minimal/breaks playing 24/7. Then, i'd be in heaven .
Until then, i just listen to CD's.

There's only one in Syracuse, and it splits time with NPR. I don't know about Columbus, I don't listen to the radio here.
