Inoculated these 2007-09-18, 100% colonized 2007-09-26, and fruited a week after. I've redunked them between each flush, and this is the result two days after last dunk, forth flush.

Am I lucky, or is this normal behavior for pf-cakes? I've read RR saying in one thread that he consider all flushes after second to be not worthwhile. Looking at this cake I would beg to differ.

I have a 1/2 of a cake (about 1lb.) being fruited pf cake style right now that is on it's 5th flush, and has a good pinset of at least 15-20 potentials. I didn't even dunk it, I just heavily misted it and rinsed it under the sink for a while to soak up enough water....the casing layer was so packed down I didn't think it would be able to fruit even if it wanted to. But it did, and I'll keep fruiting it till it's dead.
Your cake looks like it's got an awesome pinset, I don't know why some people say just throw things away after X amount of flushes. It takes a fair amount of work to get to the stage where your fruiting, so to throw something away that still has potential to grow many shrooms doesn't make sense.

If space isn't an issue by all means fruit as much as you can, but a lot of people only have space for one FC, so you scale your jars. You make new ones every couple of weeks or so and that way you put new cakes in every two weeks, get three good flushes from them and then add the new ones. That way, you aren't putting the same amount of effort (fanning, misting etc) fur just a few shrooms instead of a nice big first/second flush
Older cakes contam easier and produce smaller flushes because the mycelium is weakening, so if you cultivate all year round you tend to chuck em away after a few flushes. If you only grow a couple of times a year, then fruit those mofos until they die and make the most out of them
