Why won't this colonize?

My latest crumbling/casing experiment was to take the bottom section of one of those large Protein Powder containers to use as my tray. It's about 5" deep, 7" dia, thin plastic. Maybe someone can suggest why this won't colonize?
I took a fully B+ colonized 1lb grain bag I had (proven great bags) and crumbled it over a 1" thick 70/30 MGMC/verm layer on the bottom. I left all the crumbled cake in the center of the container, then used my casing to make a thick wall around it, then made a thin layer on top with the casing as well. I then covered the to snugly with alum foil with small slits in it, then wrapped over that with a paper towel. I put it in my FC to keep it clean and maybe a little warmer.
The cake as well as the casing was all at an optimum moisture level, so I felt good that this would colonize over very well. But NO. It's about 10 days later and the myc. chunks have made no progress or attempts to bond to each other at all. The mycobag I used had been fully colonized for over a month, and they usually colonize straight through any MGMC I put on them, so I don't think that's to blame. Any tips....suggestions?
Thanks, BOF

I am having a similar issue with KSSS, cased on rye grain.
I put one small casing into a clear bin so I could watch the progress, of which there is little to none!

Yea I don't get it...the only difference from this and my last recent crumbled/casings was the depth of the pan used...I usually get supercharged growth with the MGMC as a complete casing but nothing!

Strains vary, but B+ has always seemed like the fastest to me.
I suppose the waiting game continues, until signs of contams.

Unfortunatly your right about the contams, im sure they'll get to my little bin before any healthy growth does despite me efforts to keep it all 110% clean.
The part that confuses me is usually after crumbling/casing the myc. will usually completly bond together and overlay the top portion withen 24 hours....but NOTHING

There is definatly no contams in there as of right now. The 70/30 mix went in the microwave for about 15 minutes prior to being used, and all looks/smells completly normal as of right now.
