Any ravers out here?

Went to my first rave on Saturday... wow, it was a life changing experience... I was completely sober, just went there for the music that I been listening to for the last year... jungle drum and bass....
I love how the MCs interacted with the crowd, how the DJs flowed the relentless music and the thumping throbbing bass lines just shook me to the bones! I danced for 5 hours straight with water brakes in between... it was just amazing seeing everybody was doing their own thing, totally into the music and the atmosphere.
After that nite I couldn't go to work for 2 days, actually today I returned to work... that nite somehow opened me up and I felt amazing at first the following day, but on Monday I got sick... I started thinking about my life, my role in this culture, society, civilization, my job, my family, my friends, my ex-girlfriend, about music, about love, pain, sorrow, and symbolically my body was in the process of expelling a sickness from inside, a kind of mental blockage that was released and acknowledged. On Tuesday I felt healthier but my mental state was still up in confusion. I needed that day to refocus, re-align, and direct my energy towards things and activities I have been putting off for too long. In a way, this was like a psychadelic experience without the actual drug.
I recommend to anybody to go to a good rave with a close friend or two, and just let yourself go and dance the hardest you ever danced in your life, everything will fall into place... keep your mind open and let the pulse of the beats bring you higher than you'd every imagined. big tings a g'wan!

I go to raves a lot. I'm not so sure I would really consider myself a "raver" anymore(I stopped wearing the candy bracelets long ago), but I enjoy the music and the dancing. Actually, that's why I'm glad I moved to Portland. Up here the rave is doesn't look like a rave scene. It's not candy kids and glowsticks up here. It's just hippies who like to dance. Fortunately, for that reason, psytrance is pretty popular up here. That also may explain why it's easier to find acid here than it is to find E.

prepare to be sick on a regular basis if you're going to raves
they are without any question the filthiest events you can attend. while punk rockers might not bathe, lots of raver's immune systems are all fucked up from using drugs all the time even when theyre sick. you don't exactly worry about personal hygeine when you're rolling all the time. surrounding yourself with tons of these people, you will be sniffling and getting sick quite often.
music is great though. raver girls are sexy, but filthy - so wrap it. drugs are good. wear earplugs. take your vitamins and wash your hands.
since 1998. i know.
