Smells like FISH
    #7581300 - 10/31/07 03:29 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

Found some mushies growing out of a tree... was going to pick one and take a print/take some pics but it smelled so bad I left it there. Smelled like trout. Lol

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus.
All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the
octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV.
But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns.
Also he got a race car.
Is any of this getting through to you?

Tell us what it looked like. White gills, attached to the stem? A lot of Russula species - well a few anyway - can smell very fishy, lobstery etc. That would be my guess. Look up Russulas on mushroomexpert.com and see if any match.
