Dude, as long as the mylecium colonises whatever you put on it, it should be fine. I'm planing on probably half to one inch of colonised whole rice and then three to four inches of coir directly on top of that. When the mylceium has colonised the coir [to a level of no more than 50% of the top layer] I will start to fruit. The mylecium gets energy and nutrients from what it colonises, remember that. Kind of like how you get energy from what you digest - if you ate something then got the runs you wouldn't benfit too much from it. Its the same with casings - there is no point casing and fruiting immediatly. You must wait for the mylecium to at least partially colonise the top layer for maximum benefits.
