Humid, coldshocked casing still colonizing!!
    #7578930 - 10/30/07 11:26 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

I'm having trouble with incredibly aggressive mycelium. I've got three casings in an FC, it is around 92% humidity, and I cold shocked the mycelium. I'm using perlite for humidity, and fanning 3 times a day. I just can't make these things pin.

I need help. I just can't figure this out. They are getting good fluorescent light.

The casing has started to pull away at the sides though the top is not fully saturated, and has never been. The casing is still moist and has been lightly misted.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?!?!

You're not supposed to cold shock cubensis. They're a tropical species.

god, I feel so embarassed, looking at more casing pics, the myc growing on top is going to form the knobs.

I thought ANY myc on top was a bad thing. Sorry for unnecessary post.

yeah, you want the myc to break through the casing layer nice and even. that way you will get an even pinset

yeah, now that I know everything is okay, I'm so freaking excited. The myc is coming in very evenly, and starting to form those beautiful little knots. I'll be sure to post some pics.
