Hey guys just a quick question, picked these earlier but arent too sure whether they're liberty caps .. they were going not too far from other ones
the look kinda like lib caps only they're a bit bigger, and they've opened up (which ive noticed libs do after a while) .. and the stem went bluish after picking
so could anyone shed any light? thanks!

I'm sure you've found what I have yet to find, and have been frustrated by it's rarity: Psilocybe cyanescens. Congrats, it's like, the third most potent psychoactive mushroom out there....enjoy.

We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter." --Max Planck

i see at least 2 species of mushrooms in that photo and those are some pretty gross looking cyans if they are even that. wait for a more trusting id.
meanwhile read the rules about ID's. at least do a spore print.

i would say the bigger ones are filthy cyans, but don't take my word; i've never actually seen a cyan myself (aside from pics).
they might not be cyans, but you can be goddamn sure they're not libs.

They are not Psilocybe cyanescens, its Stropharia aeruginosa.

If they actually bruised blue, that is interesting. I'd still say an inactive Stropharia.
Although you need a proper ID request for both the white and yellow capped mushroom, AND the darker carmel-capped mushroom for IDs on both. Please do that, for an ID.

im not too sure how to do a spore test ill read up on that soon
if it makes any difference, they are still lying on that newspaper, and have left a brown print on them, which im assuming is the spore print?
they were growing at the edge of a cliff in longish grass, they were partially covered by the grass as the wind had swept the grass in the direction of the edge .. there were about 7 or 8 of the shrooms within 2ft of eachother
yes they did turn blue when picked, as you can see from the pic
the gills on the underside are brown, ill try and get a few more pics soon
btw i live in the UK, do cyanescens grow there?

I'd say probably Stopharia cyanea. Inactive.
cyanescens do grow in the UK. Check out all the PNW Cyan finds. You'll see that they look similar in shape to the ones you found, but will never have a thick pellicle like Stropharia cyanea. They also have a chestnut or carmel colored cap when in moist conditions. Your finds were obviously moust and have a thick pellice on the pileus, which is visible from the pictures.

The one your holding in the picture look more psilocybish, but a better picture and description is neccessary for IDing that one.

Hey there,
Not sure where you're located...and I can't see your pictures, but if I found caps that look just like liberty caps but with the bottom of the cap curving outward instead of inward, I'd think they're Psilocybe pelliculosa (Conifer Psilocybe), a weak hallucinogenic. Does the stem have little hairs? Cyans actually look nothing like liberty caps: more like wood ears on stems. p.s. to do a spore print, just leave a cap on white paper for a few hours and check the color of the spot that remains.
