When is it necessary to refrigerate an LC?

My friend's dog has 4 Karo/potato water LC's that were made about 2 weeks ago. They were all four a little flaky after just two days and now two of them are really flaky but the other two just have small clumps of flakes and strands at the bottom. The dog thinks that those two aren't going to do as well. When should the dog refrigerate the two good LC's in order to preserve them? They still aren't really cloudy, just pretty chunky when shaken. Supposedly the dog knocked up a few jars with one of the better ones about 3 or so days ago but still no signs of any growth. How long will it take before anything will show up from an LC inoculation?
Thanks

I was wondering the same thing except I want to use a fruit body to start the myc growth and I don't have a syringe to get small chunks out of the stem.

I have read that you should let it grow at incubation temps in the dark (80 degrees F) for about three weeks before you put into fridge. By then there should be a large cloud of myc filling up about 70% of the jar.

as soon as you're satisfied with the amount of growth you have and feel it isn't gaining any more volume over a few days, put it in the fridge.
I usually get visible mycelium growth at 24hrs from a healthy LC. 3 days isn't unheard of, but eh...
Did you just shoot spores into your LC? You should consider shooting your spores into grains instead: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/6817701/an/0/page/0
