Coco coir (coconut fiber).

You can either find bricks of it at garden centers, or you can find it in pet supply stores (reptile bedding -- ask for it if you can't find it).

It expands like crazy in water -- be prepared! One brick will easily fill a decent-sized bucket.

I tried to find coco in Greece but failed... havent searched on pet shops though! i will give it a try, thanx!
