Where do we download music from now then?

I just typed oink.cd in my browser (out of habit) whilst looking for some tunes.
Demonoid is pretty shit for music (i.e the quality and variety).. I only really use it for apps and videos.
So where else is there on the net (preferably a private tracker) that does good music?

GOOGLE!!!
in Googles search box type this in intitle:"index.of" (mp3|mp4|avi) %s -html -htm -php -asp -cf -jsp
now in place of %s type in the file your looking for or mp3. do not space between words use period (.)
for example: intitle:"index.of" (mp3|mp4|avi) 2pac.all.eyes.on.me -html -htm -php -asp -cf -jsp
a bunch of websites will show up. now browse those sites and you'll be able to download anything you want.

That doesn't work. It works for 2pac, but nothing I want to hear. I tried a few different bands, by song and by album, and nothing came up for any of them.
I use Limewire. I'd use torrents if I had a router.

Limewire has such crappy bitrates. They also have songs titled like, 'Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Beatles - Stairway to Heaven' or 'Freebird - Doobie Brothers'. But damn it do I use it!

Isn't 320 bitrate CD quality, aka lossless? I don't think it gets any better than 320.

No, 320 is the highest bitrate for lossy mp3s. Lossless has a much higher bitrate.

Actually, you can make an MP3 bitrate as high as you want — probably even as high as the lossless bitrate (so, it defeats the purpose). 320 is just an established standard, or something.

Limewire has always treated me right... although it can be awfully fucking slow and songs are often mislabeled. After using it for 3 years I really know my way around the program, so these flaws aren't that bad anymore.
Never used any torrents... don't really know a damn thing about them. I tried one once and found absolutely nothing I was looking for... maybe the shit I listen to is too "underground"? Or do I just not know how to use them? Please explain...

when you download music using torrent sites, you usually have to get a whole album, not just the song you like. Frostwire is pretty good for single songs if thats what youre interested in.
Torrents are easy to use. Download utorrent and run it. http://www.utorrent.com/download.php
then go to http://torrentscan.com/ type whatever your searching for in the box to the left, and click a torrent site to search, btjunkie usually has everything. find the file you want and download it.
i dont remember the defaults for everything, incase it dont auto start....
the file you will have downloaded from torrentscan/btjunkie is just a .torrent. (it tells utorrent where to download whatever it is your looking for ) find whereever you downloaded it to and double click it, if you already have utorrent running it should just pop up and start downloading. If windows dont know what to do with it, go to open with and select utorrent.

waffles.fm and what.cd are two new private sites that are trying to fill the void left by oink.
I have two invites to what.cd if anyone wants them. People that can show a decent ratio on another site will get dibs. Someone that can give me a waffles.fm invite will get an e-handjob AND an invite to what.cd

I use soulseek and utorrent. I barley use soulseek though. I've never really used private trackers before. I joined Oink once and couldn't keep a good ratio after seeding for two days and trying to upload my own torrents. Now I've joined STMusic and DLed one of the top ten and seeded for a night and couldn't get above a 0.066. I'm going to try to seed it again tonight. Its the new foo fighters album....haven't listened to it yet. I should get some old school Greenday, that's good shit.
As for finding torrents I use this. It does me good for what I want......I've never really noticed the difference between bitrates though so I really never paid attention to them. The only thing i have under 100bit/sec are some old school Maynard albums.....TexANS - Never Again and Children Of The Anachronistic Dynasty - Fingernails. and maybe some never heard before metal bands that sound shitty, but most of my music is between 130-200 b/s and that's good enough for me.
