I'm not saying today's news web site headlines are an indicator of bias, but I'm ust saying if we keep a running tab on different headlines at the same time maybe we can see a pattern at what different companies see as the most IMPORTANT stories to their viewers. Please use EST for all your findings. I've thrown in CNN because I think it's probably one of the (if not most) popular channels, Fox because of accusations of it being conservatively biased, NY Times for accusations of it being liberally biased, and BBC for a non international perspective as well at Al Jezeera for the hell of it. I could throw in The drudge report and MSNBC and others accused of being biased, but lets not get too crazy.
Remember.. we're talking MAIN headline at the time.... the one with the biggest, boldest font that is meant to capture the most attention (not neccessarily the story with the photo).
This might be a tough experiement because these headlines change throughout the day... so we'll see what happens day to day.
If you're going to contribute, please try to use the same news sources so we can keep track of patterns, and please bold the source like I have done to make it easier to read through past posts. And don't just pick ONE of the sources, if you're going to do it, check all sources and post them.
I've always wanted to do something like this after the last election when I saw CNN nitpicking at how much photoshop was involved on some flyers that showed Bush in front of the military on the DAY before the 2004 election. This should be interesting to see what headlines we see on important days like this. Two of the most important rules of journalism is (1) to be unbiased and (2) to report only what is newsworthy. Let's see how many violations we can find.
