I think it needs more water or humidity .. drying out can cause the bluing .

i don't think you will lose them but next time you might want to consider rolling in vermiculite after the dunk (if you did dunk?) adding a thin layer of verm on the top of the cake and wetting it even now wouldn't hurt. the drip shield is not necessary as long as you fan adequately after misting. and definitely dunk after the first flush.

brilliant news i did dunk the cake but only for a 7 hour period tryed rolling in verm but it wouldn take to it so it only had a bit here and there i havent really been misting just fanning, so i should do that ? if so should i only spray the sides of the fc or fine mist the lot from a distance ? i will be patiant after the first flush and dunk for the full amount of time

24 hours is usually recommended for dunking,as you are probably aware by now,and it may be that you need a finer grade verm for it to "take". you do need to be misting at least a couple of times a day,it doesn't matter if the pins get wet as long as you fan afterwards. the drip shield is as said before unnecessary, and i believe, more bother than it's worth. btw.if by "moisture in the perlite", you mean standing water, you need to take the cake out and completely strain it(the perlite)this will help to increase the rh and minimize the drying of your cakes.

Blueing can be a sign of drying out, u can sit the cake in a saucer of water to help rehydrate during the flush, definatly dunk for 24 hours.
I have this problem at the moment and i think its low humidity, been trying covering up holes etc
