Questions about dunk&roll
    #7574926 - 10/29/07 11:03 PM (16 years, 4 months ago)

hey so i've been doing the dunk and roll for my first batch of mushies here, the first 3 cakes i only dunked for 12 hours and then i read that 24 was more optimal so i dunked the next 2 for 24

the problem with the roll bit is that very very little vermiculite actually sticks to the cake when i roll. Is this supposed to happen? also just for clarification it is supposed to be 24 hours and not 12 correct?

cakes are dense.
therefore 24 hours is best for full penetration of moisture.

do you know the vermiculite you are rolling on is supposed to
be dry?
and the cake is supposed to be wet?

after dunking, rinse the cake well under the faucet, and then roll
it in dry vermiculite. plenty should stick.

hmm well for some reason the verm in my bag is slightly dense, but i solved the problem by lightly pressing the verm onto the cakes.

What I found was that my verm was too chunky soo I just threw a handful into my blender and made it finer, lots stuck after that.

its not a big deal. lots of ppl fruit w/out verm, it just helps tremendously with the moisture that those mushies really need.
