The park I pick them at had woodchips laid down through the trails a few years ago and they just spread all throughout the park. You'd be suprised from some places if found them growing on. Next time ill take more pics, but the quality sux on my phone.

It's more about the fact that wild patches are EXTREMELY rare, not the material they grwo on

Hey, I saw your other post, too. I especially like this one. That must be a really strong strain. The mycelial network probably moved from the woodchips that had been laid-down to the natural occuring woody debris on the forest floor, and it the forest continues to provide enough substrate, and you continue to be very careful around that area, they might keep growing for many years! That's awesome.

04? eh....
i picked 16lbs dry in 04, i was collecting backpacks full. too bad i didnt have a camera then. my patch in the bay area, CA, was almost 80ft long and 20ft wide, and there was a mushroom every inch or two, it was unbelievable.
this year is definitely not like 04 for me, definitely not. though the pnw does seem to be rather abundant this year.
with all the patches in seattle missing large chunks of woodchips and mycelial structure with the sudden flood of high school kids, ide say next year might be total shit.
if were not ALL making enough cardboard spawn to compensate for next years rebound from this years damage, we may not see a season like this til 09, keep that in mind!!

I recently invested in large amounts of mulch. If I'm feeling generous, I might plant some shroomies up in Seattle. If I do, I'll PM you and send you on a wild goose chase next year.

seattle would be a horrible spot and for sure would be destroyed by the following year.
if your in olympia, why not have the patch in tumwater or something?
plus, ive got enough wild geese to chase as it is. with all the luteos, and subbs, just about everywhere i go.

Out here in Federal Way, at one good sized park, I have found about 2lbs (wet) cyan's and they are deep in the woods. No wood chips anywhere near by. I am a firm believer of wild cyans
