inoculation loop

I got a inoculation loop in the mail recently and it is like a metal stick with a piece of bendable metal comming off. do i just twirl this in several loops on a pen or something? like a water heater or can someone post a pic of the one they use?

Exactly. Just wrap the thin wire into a circle and you're good to go. I can't find a picture of the kind you're talking about but I know what it is. I use those cheap azz bizzitches in lab.

Just one loop. It should end up looking kind of like the ones on google images except not as nice. The kind you're talking about are nice though, b/c you can bend it into any shape you want.

cool just did it, will use it to scrape spores into grain jars and shot glasses for syringes.
10g got some nuitrient agar from the same company.now to get some dishes

i've made a few out of twisty ties that had their paper removed... it worked okay

i did it like the pic above and used it for the first time today. It worked awesome for scraping the print off into a shot glass while injecting sterile water with a little H2O2 in it. Worked like a charm and now I have 3 syringes that are damn near black water from so many spores. I highly recommend using a loop.

A scalpel damages too many spores by cutting them. The round edges of an inoculating loop help prevent damage. RR
