If so, maybe you can just hold my hand a little bit here.. How much water do you put in the bottom with 10 jars inside? Any other pointers that youz are willing to hand out would be appreciated Thanks The Werd

only put about 1 inch of water in, that's it. the only time you fill it up with water up to the sides of the jars is when you're boiling them for the pf tek or for pasteurization.
pressure cookers only need about an inch or so of water in them.

Thanks so much.. I guess the rest is just finding the sweet spot on my stove... I read somewhere that for 10 quart jars... It's best to sterilize it for 90 minutes after the rocker starts a rockin... True or is it just 60 minutes flat..`? Thanks

you heard correctly. 90 minutes is good.
up to 120 minutes even. but no less than 90.
I used to have one of those Mirro's a while back. I hope it's still being put to good use somewhere...

that's what alarms are for. anytime a pressure cooker is used at night, an alarm should be set. so you can do whatever you want, even sleep, and still get up to shut it off in time.

True; I don't wake up for alarms though, which is unfortunate.
Anyway, my only point was indeed, you're right; properly used a PC with a few inches of water can go all night, 1 is more than enough.

I doubt your hot plate would drive a 22qt pressure cooker.

Hotplate
don't be too sure of that. the above hotplate will easily run an AA 941.

that hotplate will certainly not run an AA anything.
if you want to run a bigger cooker, you'll need the cast iron hotplate.
maybe that'll work for the mirro, but nothing bigger.

Wow. A 1500W hotplate? I'd watch the wiring on that puppy, that's incredible. To make an electronic heater capable of heating 7G of water to brew/sparge temps...

it's a nice hotplate. I own 3 of them.
their chords are very sturdy, very thick. it works very well. the heating element is a solid piece of cast iron. they can run an AA941 with no trouble. I've used all three for probably thousands of hours each so far with no trouble what so ever. very nicely made. quite safe if you ask me. The wiring needed to install the outlets and breakers was a pain, but the units themselves are great.

16qt is very small. so a small regular hotplate will probably work fine. once you get to 30 or more quarts, you'll need one like I have.

This is the same hotplate I own and I'm the person using the AA941 with it. Great results! It takes about an hour to reach pressure (starting with hot water) and maintains that pressure+ for more time than could ever be needed. Be careful though people, as Monstermitch eluded to, this unit draws some serious amperage.
This hotplate will draw upwards of 13+ amps, so unless you have a 30+ amp circuit, you can forget about running two of these things at once. I usually take an extension cord and run one hotplate off one circuit and another one in the room where it's cooking. I have tripped many a breaker running even one cooker and performing simple tasks like turning some lights on.
