Rock'n'Roll Acid Trips

Recently I decided to leave my not-formed-yet band (ahah!), and when I did so, a strange discussion ensued: Him: - I was hoping that your ''Acid Phase'' would wear out and we could play some real music again. You know, good old rock n roll. Me: You have no idea on how Rock n Roll LSD is. And I mean every word. Him: Bullshit, it's only a drug.
Well. I didn't say that in the way ''LSD RoCks U fookin 1337!!!!1'' I meant the word Rock n Roll. You know, with guitars and drum. Bluesy stuff. For me, there is no better music to listen while tripping as Rock from the 60's. Maybe some Indian Classical music, but that's really something else.
For me, LSD is many things. I first wanted to do it (exactly one year ago) for recreational purposes. Then for spiritual purposes. Then for both. When I did it in september, 4 times apart, I was doing it because when I was tripping, it was me, the universal me.
The rebellious me, the I-wanna-have-fun me, the exploring me, the caring-for-others me, etc, etc....
All I am thinking when I'm tripping, is rock n roll. I can't live without it. I AM Rock n Roll.
Any thoughts on that? Similar things? Go ahead.

I'll get back to my point: What do you think about psychedelics being associated with early rock n roll music?

its all about what music you like when your not tripping. if ur into 60s rock ur gunna enjoy it on acid.
if i were tripping i could listen to phish, mabey techno, or some black metal. it depends on what kinda mood im in. i think they all mesh well with psychadelics.
it seems to me your falling into the trap ive seen other ppl fall into. they become soo enamored with tripping that they get into 60s rock because of it to feel somehow more connected to that time in history, or just basicly use it to indentify themselves. This is who i am.

The use of psychedelics in the 60s and 70s had a huge impact in the way music was being played and the way people listened to it. Pink Floyd in the London Underground. I think that psychedelics played a huge role on the music and without it music would never be the same. I mean just look at the The Beatles. You can see the progression throughout their albums.

I dont listen to rock and roll.
I have been in many bands. From jazz, to funk, to rock, to super heavy motherfucking poser metal(I prefer funky jazz). None of them had a problem with the fact that I used psychedelics. Most of these people had tried them before aswell. I in contrast to your situation, I have never met anyone who considered "psychedelic drug use" to be a phase that needs to be overcome for the sake of the music.
Actually thats one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. Ya, you former bandmate doesnt understand psychedelics. Its just a drug, kind of like serotonin is just a drug. I mean you could tell an idiot like that about how john coltranes style changed because of pretty heavy lsd use. He found god in music. Its very hard to explain, but his whole musical philosophy was altered for his own enjoyment and almost divine integrity because of lsd. It turns out people really liked these obvious changes(obvious to jazz musicians). Dizzy gillespie also loved his shrooms (and pharm quality psi).
You could tell him quite simply, these musicians are better than you.............
Thats no reason to leave the band. I have left bands only for reasons pertaining to the music or the effects someones behavior has on the band. Drug use is a really stupid reason to leave a band or get kicked out of a band. If they made you choose between the band and psychedelic drugs, well thats just dumb and then you might have a reason to leave the band.
Thats some stupid shit. Hope you find another group to jam that good old rock and roll with.

You're right. I never lived in that time, and never will. I don't call that a trap, I would call that a way. I'm not a hippie, and I will never be. I don't think I ''connect'' myself to that. Nor do I identify myself to this. It's just... where it has begun.

Don't cut out my paper heart, I ain't dying anyway Take a look at Eiffel towers, never trust them dirty liars Sipping lemon yellow booze, Ol' Leadbelly sings the blues All dressed up on wedding day keep on trippin' anyway
I am, I am, I said I'm not myself, I'm not dead and I'm not for sale So keep your bankroll lottery eat your salad day deathbed motorcade
Fake the heat and scratch the itch, skinned up knees and salty lips I'll breathe your life, Vicks Vapor life and when you binge I purge alike Let go it's harder holding on, one more trip and I'll be gone So keep your head up, keep it on, just a whisper I'll be gone Take a breath and make it big, it's the last you'll ever get Break your neck with diamond noose, it's the last you'll ever choose
I am, I am, I said I'm not myself, I'm not dead and I'm not for sale Hold me closer, closer let me go, let me be, just let me be --------------------------------------------------------
Anyway, like Yageman said, if they are going to hold that against you, you really don't want to be in a band with them anyway. If they are hung up on that, the band probably wasn't doing anything or going anywhere anyway.
