Cant get cracker dry...

Ok. So i cant get my mushrooms cracker dry at room temperature in front of a fan and they've been sitting there for 4 days. So i'm going to go in search of a food dehydrator but as this may take a couple of days and i cant keep leaving the mushrooms out in front of a fan, what would be the best way to store them until i find the dehydrator? In paper bags in a dark dry place is where they are at the moment and i'm guessing most of you will suggest that but the only thing i'm worried about is since there not completely dry will this invite contamination? There pretty well sealed in the paper bags but i'm just a little concerned. Being my first ever grow results.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

do you have a window screen and a extra tub laying around? if so then just lay the screen on top of the tub (with the tub lid off of course) and put your harvest on top of the screen. Make sure to clean the window screen (at least I do) put the fan in front of the tub/screen setup and turn it to medium. I can get cracker dry mushrooms in about 48 hrs at a medium setting. I just take a window screen out of my window. That should work for you. hope that helps

Just keep fanning, it takes a while, if they are still really wet you can take a pocket knife and make a small cut down the stem to increase the speed of drying them out.

Go to the store and buy some damp-rid. You can get it at Walgreens for sure, probably just about anywhere. Place Damp-rid in a bowl or something of the sort. Put the bowl of Damp-rid and the mushrooms in an airtight container. 24 hours later you'll have cracker dry. Just don't place the mushrooms directly on the Damp-Rid. Or just get a dehydrator. I bought one and don't regret spending the money at all.

My friend is having the same problem. He has relatively small fruits and has put them in front of a fan for about 3 or 4 days now. It's winter here in the northern US of A meaning the atmosphere is also very dry. They're visibly dry, but when they don't snap. My friend's decided to say fuck it and just put it in a glass jar with 2 desiccant thingies you find in Aspirin bottles and store it in a cool dark place. Any thoughts? It's my friend's first grow so I definitely don't want him worrying about it and want to put his mind at ease. He says he's hesitant to buy any dehydrator or anything because he's planning on moving far away in several months and so is a) trying to save as much money as possible and b) doesn't wanna buy something that he won't be able to bring with him so near in the future. Any advice? Also, I'm sorry for the thread necromancy but this is the closest topic I could find.

Sometimes the RH in the room you're drying the shrooms in is just too high to get them cracker dry on their own. I always fan dry mine for a few days (to the point when they're feeling close to cracker dry) then put them in an airtight container with DampRid for 12-24 hours. The desiccant should be separated from the mushrooms by a non-absorbent material with holes poked in it (I used aluminum foil).
A food dehumidifier is almost the exact same thing as a fan blowing on (or across) mushrooms and it is really not necessary to own one.
Here is a photo of my "dehumidifier" set-up. I put together three of these frames made out of 1"x3" lumber and screened with fiberglass window screen material (available in bulk at your local hardware store). The fan sits beneath it (on top of a laundry basket) and blows air up at the mushrooms.
