Myco's Automated Greenhouse - Post Portem
Fresh outta that quandry myself.
I have an even bigger blower bolted onto my carboy lid.
I soon encountered the diameter of those pipes and tubes to be uneccesarily thin and the setup to be overly complicated.
I went through several full lengths of pvc tubing while experimenting with different configurations, angled piping, hole sizes, etc. with dismal experimental results. Everything dripped, things started to gargle, my blower was throwing a tantrum from being asked to blow through soft drink straws, you name it.
Roger Rabbit knows what he's talking about. For those of you reading this thread with the idea in your heads that you can pressurize a carboy and feed thin tubes into intricate distribution systems: don't waste your time. Why would you even want to?
I then went to Home Depot and picked up 3-4" vacuum cleaner ducting, fit 3 into the carboy, and fed one to each level of my greenhouse.
Works great, and my blower is much happier (quieter too) now that it can breathe. Gaping ducts can easily blow out a birthday cake, ridiculous FAE.
Also, I tested RH's with and without the airstone/pump. System works equally well without it, though in that case, the water reservoir immediately becomes standing water... Can I just drop an infestimal amount of iodine in the there to prevent growths?
To note, ultrasonic mister with buoy = the most expensive piece involved in the entire production, consider the fact that this entire greenhouse completely unecessary exercise in overkill before you buy. Caveat Emptor!
I have the gut sensation that even 1 duct per greenhouse level is not necessary, its a small enclosed space, you don't need much to keep the thing humid. Overkill is the universal sign of the rookie.
Conclusion: If you want to spend time and money needlessly on this hobby, this is the thing to do. Had great fun going through the entire process though, thanks MycoCurious!
P.S. If anyone here is debating getting a cycle timer over anything else, go for the timer. Best investment I've made in this hobby thus far.

Holy bungleholes,, u can buy pvc w/enough pre-drilled holes to achieve close to the same results w/out all the drilling and reaming. Leave it to the pros to drill, one or two pieces of leftover debris can consolidate enough "mist" into a puddle over the course of a day. Other than that, great descriptive tek, and fairly economic for the amount of fruits that are possible to harvest with it. A- Great Job

-------------------- But if you're in a hurry, and really got to go If you're in a hurry, might have to find out slow That it's one thing to try and another to fly You get there quicker just a step at a time It's one thing to bark, another to bite The show ain't over till you pack up at night
