Hello, I have been reading and enjoying these threads but I had to get an account today because I need some help. I first did 12 jars the OG way back in March. Two of those jars eventually turned into cakes (pretty weak) almost total failure. Later in June I injected 4 1lb rye bags from a reputable online source. I did 2.5CC x 4 bags PE. At the time I was very confused and misinformed about proper temp. They were in complete darkness for 8 weeks with no growth. The temp in the area was probably near 65-69F. So I threw them out...oooops (maybe? They are probably growing well in the dump now) Failure 2. Then I did 2x5CC PE I kept them at a friends house in a room with his pet frogs with a higher ambient temp around 80F. Those bags colonized over half way and are still going (They have been inoculated for maybe 6 weeks. I then set up a room with complete darkness and a ceramic heater that regulates the temp fairly well. I injected 10 4lb rye bags with an assortment of different CC's (either 3, 5, or 10CC's) and PE, PE uncut, B+, and Ecuador strains. These were all inoculated in a sterile environment on 10/17. I shook the bags up very loose, shook my syringes well, inoculated, and shook again. I put them in the room and moved the 2 successful PE 1lb bags into the room as well. It took me a good five days to get the heater to keep the temp around 85. I checked often and the temp was too low for the first week (65-70). Then They got all the way up to 88F. I caught it quickly. I have had 4-5 days of temp around 85F. Then I read Roger Rabbit saying that 79F was right for large patch rye bags. I am doing my best to keep the temp right around there and checking 4 or 5 times through the day and evening. Does the light from checking hurt them? Anyway the two 1LB PE bags are colonizing well and should be ready here in a few days. All the big bags show no signs of spotting at all (chilling reminder of the four I threw out). I am obviously new to cultivating. I am going to be patient with the big bags but has anyone had success with these 4lb rye bags?? Do you think I should shake them up again? Also any tips based on my ramble? I am really hoping these bags start going but I can't figure out why everything is taking so long. Should I be worried at NO spotting since the 17th (12 days)? Something tells me to just chill and wait but due to my string of failures it is time to ask questions of the pro's. Help anyone? My apologies if I missed some of this covered in other posts... I did search and find some info but nothing helping me too much. Can't wait for some success!!
