So what the hell is going on with employers these days? Everyone thinks they're the hottest shit around, and make you make a hugely embellished online "profile", just so i can send my fucking resume?

It's not like they're fucking Lockheed Martin, and it's not like I'm going for a goddamn rocket scientist. Whatever happened to sending/faxing your resume, and then they review it. Applying to three jobs now takes an hour and a half, whereas it used to take 3 minutes, one for each job. And anyone who has looked for a job for more than a month knows that it's not just sending your resume out 10 times, more like 200, before anything real comes through and the position filled.

Bullshit, is what it is, and i for one have stopped applying all together for these asinine cockgobblers, and hope others follow.

Shit bro, i'm 22, not too far away. My advice... well the cliche is to say stay in school, go to college, but that didn't work out for me. I guess get really lucky and try and stay with your pops buisness as long as you can.

fuck, i wish you could just go into a place and talk to a manager.. let him no what your all about. and be able to get a job.. too much bullshit these days

dude, don't get me started on the bullshit you have to go through just to get a crappy $10-15 an hour job.

I applied for a job 2 months ago with this company

last month they called me up for an interview

last week they called me for a second interview

And I'm STILL waiting to see if I get the job. Meanwhile I have crappier jobs wanting to hire me, but I'm trying to stall them until I find out about this one. If thios one falls through and I lose my other opportunities... I'm gonna be pissed.

And interviewers always ask: Why have you been out of work for 3 months? And I'm like: "Because you HR idiots take 3 months to hire someone."

And yeah, those job websites are fuckin bullshit. The only jobs on there are sucker commission-only sales positions, and highly specialized shit that most people aren't even remotely qualified for.

what I hate is making a profile with all your info, resume, etc on it... then you have to fill all this shit in AGAIN when you apply for a job through the same site! WTF? I thought the whole point of making a profile is not having to fill all this shit out again on EVERY application.

Its all just a sign of the times how some conservative CEO asshole expects all job applicants to bow down and lick boot just to have the privilege of working a crappy $25k a year job.

/end rant

A lot depends on the quality of the resume you send them. If you are sufficiently qualified, you'll get called back.

It's not that man, it's the process you have to go through for them to even LOOK at your highly qualified resume. Like someone up there said, 100 question "personality surveys" are not uncommon, and basically ask the same question 10 different times to try and catch the idiots out there.

I know exactly where you're coming from OP. I had basically a fucking personality quiz that took damn near an hour for a god damn customer service job. Shitty thing was - my friend clicked the back button to an expired page and I had to restart the whole damn thing. Yeah, employers are def pretty fucking annoying these days. I don't even tell them my work history or 85% of my fucking past aside from school anymore because they get so involved and need to know the beginning and end of every single fucking endeavor of your entire life.

Oh yeah, like what you liked best about, why you left, why it was a problem. It's some horse dung.

Although, job sites are good. Jobing.com, Careerbuilder.com(somewhat), Indeed.com, and craigslist have some good jobs up there, and not too many are that bullshit 3 hour processing. I just recently got hired from Craigslist, so booya.

Website content moderator  hear that fella's? I'm coming for the shroomery next!

i would have to say that the harder you have to try to get the job the less likely you will get it or be appreciated once you do land it. the best jobs you find via word of mouth and a decent interview. always keep a good cv in your vehicle. the online mcjobs are not worth your time nor effort unless you really don't know anybody nor have any marketable skills at all.

I have skills, but not knowing anyone makes it impossible for me to show them. So the first parts right

And visions, I was looking for anything from photography to data entry (geh) to creative visual design to acting/voice work.

Sending or faxing out your resume or applying for jobs online is guaranteed to frustrate you to your wits end. No one is ever going to see it man, your application is just going to float around in the limbo of some hard drive somewhere. Its the same with written applications. The damn things just end up in a pile on some guy's desk as he eats a ham and cheese sandwich, dripping tomato juice onto it, and it eventually finds its home in a waste paper basket.

You have to meet a manager. You have to put in some face time. You have to meet the person who's hiring you in real life. Otherwise you're just some name on a piece of paper and that doesn't mean shit to anyone unless maybe you're an MIT graduate or something.

I don't know man, I find it pretty easy to get jobs. It's all about charisma. You don't just send a resume, you actively pursue the job. Go there in person and introduce yourself.

Thats what I'm saying. I don't know what greats are, maybe you mean grades?

But yes, experience is key and personality is key. A sent in resume or application is a really crappy way to showcase your experience and personality. Unless you're going after a computer job that you can do from home.
