Al Gore As President

What would the United States of America be like if Al Gore decided to run, and was elected, as the President of the United States in 2008?
I think Al Gore is uniquely positioned to capitalize on the lack of credible candidates, as well as the sentiments of the majority of American citizens. As much as I hate to say it, Ron Paul simply doesn't seem to have the foundation to be elected, although his campaign has been very inspirational and compelling, whereas Al Gore could be elected already.
How could any of these candidates run agansit Al Gore? From the perspective of mainstream understanding of politics, the man has done no wrong, and his persona at the moment is simply stellar.
What would his platform look like? The environment would be obvious, but I think it would extend to the people as well, and their rights and interests.
What does everyone think? Also, what is the likelihood that he will run? I think I'll go do some searching on him.

Ahh, apparently I was right on time with this thread.
Quote:
Oct. 25 -- Although he is not even a candidate, Al Gore has surged to second place in a new poll released today by CBS. When his is added as a choice for the Democratic nomination, he garners support of 32 percent of primary voters, while Clinton gets 37 percent, Obama 16 percent, and Edwards 7 percent.
Of course, Al Gore could easily take down Hillary Clinton if he actually were running (and maybe he is ). He's already won the popular vote to be president, and clearly the political climate has shifted in the favor of both his party and himself. He actually was vice-president, and served in both the Senate and the House. She wouldn't stand a chance agansit him.

He's had a shot at show business so he has the necessary credentials.
I'd personally like to see Leonard Nimoy in the oval office.

Furthermore, he seems very capable of capitalizing on the anti-war sentiment, which she certainly isn't capable of doing, hypocritical bitch.
Here's a speech he gave on Sept. 23rd, 2002, that I'm still reading, key parts have been underlined. Al Gore's Speech On Iraq

I would LOVE to see Gore run for President. I like that although he believes in the environment and the people, he's not your typical "americans can't say anything politically incorrect" person. I don't think he'll pussify america, I think he'll help to return us to our former glory and help america lead the way in protecting the Environment. While Bush is a big business wet dream, Gore is going to take a giant dump on big business. I can't say that Hillary would do that as I think she is just as much big business as Bush is.
Hillary scares the crap out of me. It's not that I don't think America is ready for a female President, it just not her. She's just as bad as Bush when it comes to political contributions. Once you take big business donations, one becomes their extension and not the extension of America. She's also for bombing Iran, which I think would be a mistake larger then Iraq. She just scares the living shit out of me. Fuck that butch bitch.
Now, if Billy could run again....hmmmmmmmmmm.... I like the sound of that.

I disagree. He would certainly be a formidable candidate but poll numbers do not always translate into votes. It is too late to be entering the race. Remember, the primaries begin January 3rd- that is only a little more than two months away!
Gore just does not have the campaign infrastructure in place to make a run. You need a campaign staff, workers and organization in place in most states to make a serious run for president and it is simply too late for that. Ask Fred Thompson.
Hillary has that machine-it is firing on all cylinders and she is miles down the road. She is a dot on the horizon at this stage.
John McCain had the same problem in 2000. Great poll numbers but no real organization in place to take advantage of that fact.
Having said that I would consider voting for Gore if he ran and somehow became the nominee. As much as republicans have ridiculed him, the country would be in better shape had he been elected rather than George Bush. Bush was on the wrong side of history on Iraq and global warming, two huge issues where Gore was correct.
