You dont need an incubator just colonize at room temps.Put them right above the fridge in a cupboard i colonize at 70 just fine.

If you knocked them up, you knocked them up. What incubator you used is irrelevent, and has nothing to do with ambient humidity, or your cakes drying up. Sometimes it takes more than 5 days; wait.

Humidity won't really matter when you're colonizing. Your cakes won't dry out through the holes just colonizing...I just meant to say your heater won't affect it.
I'd aim more for 80F, though 74 will let them colonize just fine.

I second that.
When I started, I went with TiT, but at the end of the day, I dumped the setup, and opted for a dark space slightly above room temperature. It was much less work and colonization has been great.
Might take a wee bit of hunting, but I'm sure you can find a place with temps anywhere between 72-76 degrees. Keep in mind that the insides of your jars are warmer than the ambient air. Casings put out even more of their own heat. Think containment.
Remember - even if temps they are slightly lower, you'll be ok - it's just slightly slower. Patience is a virtue with this gig.
