Addiction?
    #7570674 - 10/28/07 07:29 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

is herb an addiction? I recently got some of the best i've smoked, and I'm smoking more than I usually do. I say the better it is the more you'll end in smoking in a period of time. How can people say its not addicting? It is but with minor withdrawles.

I've smoked a lot and never have had withdrawles. I would consider it addictive if you can't function right with out it.

wikipedia: An addiction is a recurring compulsion by an individual to engage in some specific activity, despite harmful consequences to the individuals health, mental state or social life.

it can be psychologically addicting if thats what you mean, i dont think people would dispute that. Hell even masturbating can be an addiction, albeit a funny one.

anything can be psychologically addicting, but no, marijuana is not physically addicting.

Marijuana is physically addicting in a small percentage of people, though the withdrawal is hardly hell.

What causes those certain people to be different from everyone else? What makes them more vulnerable to physical addiction?

No idea. I doubt enough studies have been done to discover that.

Yes cannabis addiction does exist. However the withdrawls are mild when compared to other drugs. Anyone who says you can't be addicted to cannabis is crazy. Just take a look at some of the people here...many smoke 4-5 times a day. I smoked 1-2 times a day for about a year. When I suddenly just stopped...I could not sleep, and not sleeping put me in a shitty mood. This lasted about 3 days...not that big of a deal. If your going to get addicted to something; cannabis is the thing to do...I suppose it is a safe addiction. Won't be robbing any liquor stores or anything lol.

I guess it has to do with the person though. I am sure some feel the withdrawls a lot more then others.

My guess is that the reason people don't go through withdraws from cannabis is because the THC leaves your body at such a slow rate. I'm not saying it is entirely impossible, Ii just don't understand what the withdraws from the herb could possibly be. Just being bummed out that you haven't blazed in a while?...

I typically spark up few times a day. And I have had to put smoking aside for a bit here and there and it isn't all that hard. Though there are those days of course where i just wish I could take a bong rip or something.

The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity. ~ Albert Einstein
