First, I apologize for a delay in any updates, you guys/gals should know by now it requires something pretty serious for me not to be around daily, and update on time.

I am almost done fighting what the doctors call "walking" pneumonia.
It seems every time I go outside, I get worse, Soo.. i've been staying warm and indoors and asleep for days upon days, I think im on the beginning of week four, of being sick.

anyhow...

as far as the grow goes SUCCESS!!!!

the invitro coir bags, are done colonizing, they are a little different then I am used to, manure makes a good super white myc, the coir, is a little more thin, and less prominent, I did break one bag up some to be sure it's fully colonized, and yes, it was.

the monotub, of coir, is also doing very well..

how bout some pics???

Oh, and what do you guys think, should i put a casing layer on the monotub? I have considered just fruiting it as is.

PICS:

So, in short, I'll be updating again soon, as i've set everything out to start pinning.

I am going to be taking prints off of all the poobags as they are Oak Ridge strain. I am hoping that it's genetics for good invitro growing remain, and hopefully, using a different substrate wont mishmash it even further (this myc is from another isolate)

I still haven't made use of my petri and agar. I have been using ghetto agar dishes (half pints with very little brf).

I think that anyone not wanting to hunt their own manure and pasteurize, nor anyone that wants to spend the money on ordering product, really need to consider giving coir a try.

In the past, I grew F+ on coir, and it did magnificently. I could only tell a SLIGHT difference with a bioassay. The fruits weren't AS large, but were healthy enough that I was super impressed. I always use a very deep substrate, which almost always ensures I get some pretty decently large fruits.

leave some comments, and since hyphal knotting isn't present on the tub, I have about 24 hours to case it. I really don't want to, but, if you guys think it's best, I will. If i do, it will only be a straight vermiculite casing layer as usual.

OH, and the tub, is "Ps. Cubensis" blue meanie. I hear good and bad about it. I have eaten them, they seem to be a little more potent then most cubensis, but it's basically still a simple cube. I am unsure of why they even call it blue meanie. I see no evidence of it being anything different. No diff species or strain. It's defintely not a pan, from aussie.

Missed you guys, and again, I apologize for the long wait.
I am getting healthier, so those of you used to seeing me on IRC, again, I haven't been there either. Today I feel good, so i did this.

PEACE>

coir bags have hyphal knots, no way to get a good pic with my shitty camera. The coir bags are Oak Ridge strain. The blue meanie monotub is also showing signs of hyphal knotting, but i got lazy and never cased it, so it's going to have to run w/o a layer now.

I'm guessing by this next weekend I can show pics of fruits.

Im not sure of your teks but I was wondering ,
can you sterilize the grain in the bags , then inoculate em, wait for them to colonize, then cut the top seal off and mix up the substrate and grain , pour it right back in the same bag and seal it up?

Looking good! Can't wait til I get my game on, have almost everything bar canning jars [can't find them here...probably end up using glasses with foil].

But yeah I know you can get Blue Meanies wild here in Australia, they grow around here a bit. Heard of something whacked out last year though, some guys drove a decent way out to a field to go look for some, and they found them. Stupid thing was they ate them BEFORE they drove back...and needless to say they didn't arrive happily, GRTS :C Yet more ammunition for the anti-drug protesters leading up to the election...bah!

Anyway back on topic, have you found much of a difference using a casing in terms of fruit size? All I have heard is that it makes the fruits more stable and less prone to contams if your cleanliness isn't top-notch a-grade whizz-bang 100% [virtually impossible if growing somewhere you also inhabit!].

Cheers - boingkster

PS: Hope you get well soon! Can't stand being sick...

the invitro bags are never cased, and they yield huge fruits.
This will be my first monotub w/o a casing layer that's been successful, so we'll see...

to be honest, i really have no answer for this question as I have no experiences to base it on...

after this I will,

and you'll SEE the results!

Ok, did some more stuff.

Here is the coir bags:

they literally have hundreds of pins starting from loads and loads of primordia.

Here are the tubs:

loads and loads of hyphal knots on the coir blue meanie tub. This has no casing layer.

I don't expect mature fruits this week, maybe first of next week.
I am anxious to see what happens, as in size, and potency.

The blue meanies are a tough bunch, I am having to fan them about 10 times a day.
The no casing layer deal, seems to be working out, as that is one immense set of primordia, i hope it all becomes pins, and then mature fruit bodies.

take care.

ps, i normally like to post this all at once, after everything is done, but as i said, this one is in real time, and i take pics and what not as i have time.

i think you are underestimating the time it takes for a pin to mature. IMO it's like 3-4 days.

great job, i enjoy seeing more coir experiments.

My experience with the oak ridge strain doing it invitro, is that it takes a week to finish setting this primordia you see, then in up to 5 or 6 days it matures.

I could be totally wrong, and wake up tomorrow to 3 inch fruitbodies, but I highly doubt it will happen in the next few days, IF IT DOES, this thread and the readers will be the first to know..

all of my past invitro bags have been manure, maybe it's different for this coir.

lets hope it is ready by the weekend!! WOOHOO. (btw first of next week is 3-4 days, it being thursday, tomorrow being friday, monday would be the fourth day.)

wow, i spawned everything on 10-20-07, it's now the 1st, so it's been 12 days since spawning that I have fruits forming, that's pretty class act, considering the g2g's to get the spawn only took 5 days, so that's a total of 17 days, that's pretty fucking nice.
