Hey guys, my first time growing, one of my cakes has some kind of weird looking growth on it. I did a dunk and roll tek, and as the mycelium took over ther vermiculite, I noticed that on one of the cakes one spot of mycelium was especially white and solid. About two days ago, that white started getting bigger and poking out and it's getting a light brownish color to it. I'm not sure as to what this is, at first I thought It might've been pinning, but the cakes started pinning today and these pins look much smaller than that.

it's on the left in this picture

and on the right in this one
Can anyone tell me what this is? and should I remove it from the cake?

its sitting on a small plate, with nothing on it except a little perlite sprinkled on the sides
no chemicals have been around it, except for rubbing alcohol and peroxide when I cleaned the plates and the fruiting chamber
should I remove the growth??

Hmm something interesting I noticed, Most of the pins that are forming on that cake are concentrated around that growth......... there are pins around the rest of it, but around the growth theres a clusterfuck

i had a similar growth on my last batch. I think it has to do with perlite touching the cake. It stimulates growth due to the water retention. you sure theyre not huge pins? (maybe albino?)

That's what I thought they were at first, but actual pins started forming this morning and they are much smaller than that, but it could be that because as I mentioned that patch of mycelium was especially aggressive. They do have a light brownish color to them...so they could be giant pins......but how the hell did that happen??
Also, no perlite touched my cake so I don't think its that
