Your mutants and aborts are likely caused by petrol chemicals. Did you spray the air with anything(eg, Lysol, oust) before/ while making your jars? Did you use tap water when making the jars? Next batch of jars, use a different brand of vermiculite/brown rice flour, and use bottled water/distilled water for everything(cakes, misting, etc).

I'd almost say your problem is your humidity.

Thanks for the input guys. I kinda figured since most of the ones that are aborts and mutants started growing in the perlite terrarium that maybe the humidity/air exchange was what caused it, there are actually some new pins that started today that are looking mighty healthy. i think when they mature im just gonna pick everything off and then dunk and put them back in. we shall see what happens. These are Cambodians, but a few days ago i knocked up 10 more jars of Chinese. im gonna try doing a casting this time in another 10 gal that im gonna hook up with the same humidification set up i have going. Pretty sure it could run several 10 gal aquariums. wish me luck, i'll post more pics when i think they are pretty enough. ps. the aborts are still pretty potent we picked off a few of the ones we were sure werent growing anymore and munched them down lastnight. Things got pretty wild!

Well this was my first time, and i taped the holes after inoculation which may or may not have slowed it down. i kept them at about 85-86 and it took a damn month...

It could just be me, or something with the way those pictures are taken, but I swear it looks like all your cakes are SERIOUSLY contaminated with mold! I wish you could take extreme close ups of the cakes. Take a picture that shows once cake in the entire field of camera vision.

they aren't moldy, its just the lighting and the fact that they are taken through glass...they look almost grey in the pics, but they are white in real life. I would be able to recognize mold, they are a little bruised too.
