Psilocybe cyanescens?

These were found growing in the Bay Area, CA. I've never identified this species before, but it seems to match the description. Unfortunately, the specimens were very dried out so I'm not sure.
Habitat: Wood chips - don't know what type. The specimens were found under very low flowering shrubs. There were also Stropharia aurantiaca present in the vicinity.
Gills: Tan in smaller specimens. Dark brown in the larger specimens.
Stem: Dingy white to light brown with faint blue/green bruising. Fairly tough and fibrous.
Cap: Dark brown. Convex in small specimens becoming uplifted and wavy.
Spore print color: purple-brown.
Bruising: Faint blue/green visible on most stems and on the margins of some caps. Not the vivid bruising I've seen in pictures here.
Veil: not visible on most specimens. Some with faint veil remnants made of small fibers.
Location: Bay Area, CA

lol@curecat, yeah Scout, those are cyans.
you have a rare find there, so hang on to that spot, don't tell anybody, and check again when it starts raining again.
that's juniper (or something similiar). I've pricked my hands on those bushes plenty of times. I bet that's in somebody's front yard too, right by the driveway (something I've seen before).Sometimes in certain places this time of (indian summer) year, those bushes are just enough to shelter it. Cyans don't particularly like juniper, per se, it what's underneath it that counts, and it's not all juniper, it's landscaping

also, scout, in case this is your first find, all you have to do is put them under a fan overnight..Just find a fan that will blow cool air over those cyans overnight..they'll shrink and be nice and dry and keep for some months...stems should snap, or they are not dry enough (prevents bacteria growth)

Thanks for the feedback. I'll post these in the official thread.
These were growing in a heavily-trafficked area, but were practically invisible under the shrubs. My girlfriend has excellent eyes!

yes, you're girlfriend has good eyes, yep. And it's absolutely true that sometimes these grow right in the middle of a heavily trafficked area. Like in a Mcdonalds parking lot, for example, right at the drive thru...no kidding (I've actually done a number of fast food restaurant drive thru's on my bicycle around the bay just to scope the landscaping. No need to say the order takers thought that was very strange, and so did the people in cars..haha)
it's just one of those things that makes hunting and picking this species a very unique experience

yeah, no kidding.....some of these spots are SO PUBLIC, there's no way to get around it..it's almost like you're stuck in traffic with an audience of 3000 drivers...sheesh
wtf do you do then?, when it's right in the middle of the road?
who is that crazy person wandering in the middle of traffic (shows up on the KCBS hourly traffic report)
when people say 'it's unique' we mean it
hehe

Dress like you're going to a job interview, and pretend like what you're doing is completely normal.
Don't look up at every care that passes, all sketchy like, but at the same time, don't ignore obvious disruptions, like someone honking in short range. Regard the traffic as you would if you were reading the newspaper or a book... in the middle of the street.

make like your bicycle just broke down 'in the middle of the road - pretenders'
make like you're fixing your gears, 'in the middle of the road'
while stuffing you're bicycle saddle bags with those little brown things on the ground
change a tire, fix a flat, pick a few...erm, here and there

LoL. I'm far too meticulous to fake it. It would take too bloody long.
Plus, I don't have a bike... after i was stoned once and left it in the driveway, and my sister ran it over while backing out of the garage.

there's a variety of ways to get around it, when you're stuck in the middle of a traffic jam...just gotta be creative...hehe
come to think of it 'crazy' is what you want to be at that moment, because nobody messes with you then...think about it..
it helps to slobber out of your mouth while you're doing it....people tend to look the other way then...get the picture?
it's not just psychology while tripping, it's psychology while picking too
Hollywood has nothing on us pickers, for acting skills sometimes (because we're out there in the real world doing it every day)

We like to identify mushrooms of all kinds, so we're used to examining specimens and taking pics in public areas. People don't seem to mind - as they shouldn't.
That said, taking pictures and examining a number of active species in front of a large audience does get the blood rushing!
Fungophobia sucks!
