I was potting several rooted cuttings today and snapped a quick family photo. They come from 5 different individuals. My latest rescue from a Home Depot in San Antonio; the etoliated one in the back middle. It was covered in scale bugs and I found it at the back of the bottom of those wooden cactus racks they use. I got it at the "half dead" price. I brushed the bugs off with an old toothbrush and gave it a drink. Now she is turgid and green. All the small cuttings are from another individual I rescued about a year ago from the dark corner of a greenhouse. She was in that dark corner for easily 3-4 years. The tips grow like weeds now but have a very small diameter. Early next spring I will separate the little guys potted with each other as well.

yes some of those are very thin indeed... when they are given sufficient light, thicken up and get tall, support may be an issue... u may be better off letting them pup, then cut the pups off and root them... start with a stable base
u got a good family anyway!

great cactus collections, i will be nice when they all are growing at full speed. Mine did't grow as much this year as last, don't think it got hot enough all summer, without a single day in the 100's...
