I was just wondering i couldn't find a really good pic of a pinning cake. Do pins look like little white threads er wha?

it can be but maybe not, most of the time its just the mycel reaching out. usualy you will see lil white balls evey where and that will be the pin begining to form.

I see because some cakes started to put out these thread tentacle things like i was saying and then those started to go away and then dense white starts taken over this is inside the terrarium

typically they look more like little white knots before they become clearly a pin
the strands are usually aerial growth

Very real. The cash was just the casing layer. Here's an early pinning picture.
It does show the hyphal knots and primordia forming quite well though. Currency around the world is usually a hemp-cotton blend, making it an excellent mushroom growing material. RR

Kknow i am thinking that maybe my cakes aren't pinning. They are getting nice white fuzz on them. But they have been in there for a week and one has been in there for more than a week and has just gotten kinda bumpy and fuzzy. my temp moves from 70-75 usually staying around 71.2 ish my relative humidity is 97-98% at all times.
Is there someting im missing???
