ok, likely a contam, not likely cobweb. be on the look out for colors. and at least out of 80 ppl a day, i have pictures. sorry i dont know exactly what everything i see in the world of mycology looks like. i will someday, but im new, so for now i ask!
ill try to post again tomorrow, but ill be away i think for about 2 days. i guess thatll give it time to decide if it wants to be cobweb or myc, or some other contam.
wish me the best

Sorry that really wasn't an irritation with you as much as this board's structure in general. Rumors and half-truths tend to permeate lots, "cobweb mold is the only common whitish mold" being one of them. Cobweb doesn't often show up in jars, and diagnosing molds in jars has to be one of the least challenging aspects of this hobby.
Anyhow, don't count on identifying molds as much as determining mold mycelium v. mushroom mycelium. Mushroom mycelium can be whispy, but that barely-there, and likely fast-growing puffball, is a harbinger of all that is evil.

damnit, all who come bearing bad news!!!
j/k, when i woke up this morning, i checked the jars, and this is after shaking them yesterday, and whatever this "substance" is, seems to be doing well(whatever it is) on the grains all over.
one of them for sure has a scary(er) spot on it, it is brighter white than any of that "substance" and maybe im just trippin, but it looks like a green dot whith white around it!

Dunno...any mold will have that characteristic (color, surrounded by white mycelium), as it takes a few days after growth to begin sporulating.
That doesn't really look like trichodermia mycelium to me though...usually trich has a nasty, very dense cottage-cheese look to it in its infancy.
But yes, post pictures later; it'll help explain why the jar was contaminated, and with what type of mold.

im fuckin pissed!
well not furious, just a little perturbed. all my wbs, went to shit, all that whispywhite shit started developing black dots all over it, so i chucked em all. (my LC also has a couple, just a couple black specks, but is very whispy/spindly)
and two of my popcorn that i was really hoping would come around got sent out with them. FUCK! i hope 2 quarts of popcorn spawned to coco coir is enough to do an 18quart monotub

That should be plenty. I spawn 2 quarts of WBS to h/poo in 18 GALLON tubs.

ok, so is there really a ratio of colonized grain to bulk substrate???
i was worried that i wasnt going to have enough grain, but sounds to me like i can spawn it to a much bigger amount than what i need.

1:4 spawn:bulk is the most recommended...
i try to keep it 1:3 1:2 to make it speedy.
i used 12 quart dishpans and put about 3 and a half quarts of colonized wbs mixed with coir.
thats just me though.
