First timer
    #7565019 - 10/26/07 10:30 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

Hello all, this is my first time and I want to clear few things. I know these might sound like a bad questions; I have 5 pounds grow bag that consists of aged and shredded horse manure, millet/milo, vermiculite, earthworm castings, coco coir. Now question number 1, is there a difference in yield if I grow it inside the bag versus if I grow it in tray? If yea and I grow it in the tray then whats the best casing layer to get? And is fruit chamber necessary to only keep humidity up all the time or is there something else to it?

And probably easiest question, how would B+ and PESA do in that grow bag's substrate? Should I get some other strain two or these two will be perfect for me? Thanks in advance!!

im not sure if im hearing you right, but before you do anything you need to pasterize or sterelize your substrates, (growing stuff.)

I'm not sure.. I think a tray would have more surface area.. but even if you fruit a flush in the bag you'll have to give it FAE for the other flushes so you might have to put in in a tray after the first flush

most people use 50/50 peat/verm with hydrated lime and sometimes gypsum.

humidity is complicated you need over 80% for a casing but you need FAE to prevent mold and trigger fruiting.. but you need high humidity on the surface of the mycelium to trigger pinning

You could put the tray in a tub with moist perlite and manually mist and fan several times a day. or you could hook up a humidifier to the tub and try to balance the timing to get the right humidity.

if you fruit in the bag I've read that you can leave it sealed until you want to pick the fruits

Thank you for fast reply too i will have to look at people's logs to see about FAE and humidity issues. I have a cab with built in intake fan and an exhaust fan, but they are rather powerful imo. would that cab work?! I could put it on timer, but now have to figure out how to bring humidity in. So would that wooden cab work or should I get something similar to rubbermaid?

Definitely don't grow them in the bags, just let them colonize in the bags then make a peat moss/vermiculite casing with them.

some people have good success colonizing and fruiting inside mycobags.
but not all strains will fruit in bags..
