Woud cutting a fresh mushroom into small peices and then drying it be ok.. Im just thinking they would dry faster

Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles.

I've read that this is safe to do and it definitely speeds up the drying process by creating more surface area.

spend 40 bux on a dehydrator if this is going to be a consistent hobby for you, if not, then go to home depot and get a 5 dollar carton of damp rid and UTFSE.

if you cut or bruise a mushroom it will NOT lose potency.
I'd love to see someone prove that point...
it'll never happen.

so yes, it's more than okay to cut open the big ones so that
they dry at the same rate as the others.
splitting it in half usually will work just fine, no need to cut it
up into tiny pieces or anything.

really??

well then prove it.

your answer is not sufficient to convince anyone.

I have been splitting the stalks open with a razor blade just to facilitate the drying process, I leave the caps alone because my assumption is that the gills allow more than enough air in there to dry it out. The stalk is not split completely in half, I just open up one side with a razor blade. When it dries, the edges curl over and it looks kind of neat.

My first harvest of shrooms (EQ), i just into tiny peices and mixed with food, it bruised crazy, pretty much every peice was complelty blue. Knocked the socks off of me after eating only have (whole dose i prepared was 18 grams wet) after the trip calmed down i bit i ate the rest and was sent flying again.

I've noticed no potency lost from extremly bruised shrooms so far, even my cakes bruised like crazy, and i ended up having a level 3 trip on 18 grams.

It may loose a bit of potency but its probably so small to be barely noticable.
