Smoking A. Muscaria is ok.. VERY mild hallucinations not really much else to it though. wouldnt go to the trouble again of drying and pealing of the skin to smoke it though.. never tried it with MJ though, which i hear is quite nice. As for eating them.. never tried it. sorry. however probably wouldn't recommend it as it isn't really good for your liver and in large doses will give you muscle cramps/spasms, and also heard it can cause a 'coma like' sleep. doesn't really sound great to me but its an experience i suppose if done right just make sure they are A. muscaria

well I tried air drying a couple and that ended horribly. So whatever, fuck A. Muscaria. I can't use the oven for mushrooms with my parents around me.

you wanna get your water as close to 190 degrees as possible for 15 minutes or so, that will convert the ibotenic acid into muscimol, the active component in Fly Agaric . They effect people differently most dont like them some do. dont take more than 7 grams the first time (dry weight)

The thing about mushrooms or any drug is they dont have the same reaction for all people.. the experience of yours is personal
As humans its habit to quantify and subjectify things. But remember.. we are all different.
If you approach it with respect the mushroom can be a great learning tool.
If someone wants to just get high and party This mushroom could put a hurtin on you.

Kids shouldn't use mushrooms.

I've never had the opportunity to pick my own muscaria, so I am not certain how to dry/prepare them correctly.
I have bought dried ones over the internet before, and my experiences eating them were always quite wonderful actually. I prefer them over psilocybian mushrooms.
The first ounce I had was from a trade I did with hippie3 many years ago, and those were the best I ever had. Then I had a couple other ounces from bouncing bear that worked good. My last purchase from another vendor was basically bunk tho, so you're not aways guaranteed a potent set of caps.
My dosages were always around a quarter ounce dried eaten with a beverage.
Very good experiences for me. Very clensing, very clear thoughts, like an elixer purifying me. Half the time I would eat them I would end up having dreams that night about the muscaria mushrooms, which was very interesting to say the least.
But I guess the majority of mycologists out there would not recommend anyone consuming them, probably because of the overwhelming amount of negative trip reports from them. I guess they just are not for everyone, and the batches are very unpredictable from season to season and region to region, so you never really know what you are going to get or how each individual will react to them.

Exactly. I definitely have no more interest in experimenting with this species... It'd be interesting to send you some from North CA to see what your experience is.

Kind of you to mention that, but lately I only will eat psychoactives that I find myself in the wild. I don't cultivate anymore because I dont require that many mushrooms, plus all of my cultivation equiptment and research was never given back to me last time I ditched out on a relationship (that person did that to me two times now and i have no urge to replace any of it again).
Also, I don't even ingest Cubensis mushrooms anymore. Its as if that mushroom taught me everything it could, I know them too well, I've experienced every facet of their character and they just dont seem to show me anything new anymore.
Last shroom season I was in Florida I had permission to be on many pastures, and I would just pass up hundreds of Cubes all over the place, kind of jaded and unimpressed by their beauty because Ive seen them a million times already. I would only harvest the Copelandia and subbalteatus, because those shrooms were still teaching me and still show me new parts of their character each time.
I'm always down for trying a psychoactive species I havent tried before or have little experience with because each one has something unique to learn from them. But all together I have no urge to try them unless the shroom spirits decides it is my time to find them in the wild.
Right now I don't have a single shroom to my name, no spore prints, nothing but a pile of books. And i am completely content with that. I've done my fare share already and am in no hurry to experience more.
If you have any California edibles to share now that might be a different story.:)
