Question about grain

I just wanted to know if you can knock up rye grain with spores. Ive tried 2 or 3 times before but the spores never seemed to germinate. Maybe 2 out of the 30 some jars i tried to knock up had a few kernels that started to colonize. Then it just stopped. So i was just wondering if you have to use a LC to knock up grains or bird seed or did i just have bad luck.
Any info is appreciated.

Spores will germinate and grow very well into grains. You must be doing something else wrong. What was your procedure? RR

Hmm strange. Well at the time when i did it, i had made a bunch of half pints all the way full with a little verm on top. I know now thats grains are not used as cakes, so i have some quart jars filled about 3/4 full. But i took the grain and let that soak in water for around 48 hours. after they soaked i rinsed them really well and then simmered for about 10-15 mins, then drained for about half hour. Then loaded the jars in the PC and cooked for 90 mins. I would say about 15% of the grains broke open after i PC'ed. After that i just added a few cc's of spore and that was it. At the time i kinda suspected the spores because they seemed to have a hard time growing in BRF as well. The one other thing i do remember reading was some grains wont work because of something they put on them. I forget what that is but i think it was stated on the package if it had that chemical. But i purchased new grain this time around from one of the vendors so im sure they should be fine.
Does the procedure sound about right, and how many cc's should i use for quart size jars?
Thanks for the response

Search for my rye tek and give it a go. There should be NO burst kernels. They indicate you didn't properly prepare the grains. If I ever saw more than half a dozen burst kernels in a batch, I'd toss it and start over. RR

alright ill toss them and try it again with your tek. just out of curiosity would the bursted kernels keep the spores from growing. is it just to much moisture in the grains to grow. i remember when i first started growing on brf my first few tries were to wet and either contaminated, or grew at a very slow rate and then contaminated.
thanks
