soil mites
    #7561999 - 10/26/07 07:23 AM (16 years, 3 months ago)

apparently i have soil mites, i thought they were spider mites at first but realized they moved faster, are a little bigger, and were in the soil not on the live leafs.

what kinds of damage do they cause? I did a quick google and it said they benifit plants by breaking things down. anyone have experience with them?

they could well be predatory. and as such, sentinels against spider mites, as well as some resistance to gnats.

i have soil mites that frequently run up my grafts hunting springtails and their ilk.

I credit them to my lack of spider mites, even after a summer outdoors

if i put some in a bag and freeze it will i be able to keep them alive?

these are hardy looking bastereds and if they kill knats and spidermites they are now my new best friend.
