Pedro Question

What I'm looking at: 18 inch CUTTING or 18 inch ROOTED CACTUS
So I'm assuming "cuttings" wont grow?
Also.. would I be better off buying two shorter Rooted Cacti? or one larger rooted cacti? Or even a 3 kilo batch of odds and ends for the same price?
I appreciate your info, thanks.

if the cutting is cheaper, get that, as it will grow roots when you plant it, usually within a month or so. Also, I dont really know how much 3 kilos of odds and ends would be, but it sounds like a lot, i would probably go that way, but if it is your first, you may want the cuttings, as they will probably be more attractive.

if cuttings did not grow, why would every gardener take them? unlike "incense", which is a totally lame way of covering up "prepared mescaline", "cuttings" actually are a valid and legitimate way of selling stuff. cause they grow

i usually steer clear of the odds and ends type deals for fear of ending up with loads of little pieces... perhaps i'll go for that next time and hope i dont end up with shit!

I've gotten the oddball deal before. The pieces generally weren't too small, but definietly oddball shapes. I was happy with them though. It's a good deal if you want to put in the time of pupping them out.

well dont forget... if you get a rooted cactus you cant just plant it and give it water or the bottom will rot out. that happened to my monster Terschecki and it isn't so monster anymore :-(. I saved the top half though.
but if you get a non rooted one make sure to set it in bone DRY soil and pull it up every now and then to check for roots. once you got roots then you can give it a little water but not much at all.

Thank you. I'm going to get three 6 inch cuttings, I think. I'll probably put up some pics in a few weeks

YEah i think its funny that pretty much the only cactus you see sellers selling as cuttings is san pedro. And ive never tried to burn any green flesh, but I am pretty certain that was not the method of the ancients.
