You must be tripping! I got 4 flushes off that casing, close to 2 oz. dried and burried it outside last week. This is an OLD post! That casing never got even a slight contam.

Interesting. I've gotten 2 dry oz. in two flushes by casing two pints of colonized birdseed with 50/50+.

Been asked and answered, but I'll do it again... 3" depth, uncased. If I had cased it, I probably would've gotten another 33% yield out of it, but who cares, there's always next time, which is happening now.
