Setting up artificial light

When looking for a light that you want to use as an artificial light source for plants, the determining factor on how good it will be is the lumens?
is that all?
I am going to be going to home depot pretty soon, I want to get a low budget setup to get some seedlings going and get some experience growing under artificial lights.
2) what would better for growing plants, a tubular florescent fixture or CFL's or a CFL flood light? 3) What Do I need to know about CFL flood lights?
also, I am wondering how I could construct a homemade hydroponics system for around 10 plants. Not necessarily Mj but plants of all sorts. Is this possible since certain plants need certain nutrient concentrations 4)(im not sure if having diffrent types of plants on the same system would work)
Is the type of hydroponics system for running multiple plants called a drip system?
What is it called whenever people grow in soil but use liquid nutrients as if it were totally hydroponic

> determining factor on how good it will be is the lumens? Par lighting is the light that plants need(to my best knowledge anyway) For HIDs your gonna want 50w per Sq foot. For floros your gonna want 80w per sq foot (this is for flowering)
>2&3 T5 floro(tube) is the best ATM, then T8 then Id say CFL.
CFL and CFL F.L. should be the same thing, the only difference I can imagine is the flood lights might need an external ballast. as most CFL has an electronic ballast built into the base of the bulb.

I wouldn't even want more than one plant per system if they were the same. If you attempted to search you would find deep water culture tecs, Ebb and Flow and drip systems are all very easy to DIY. DWC would be my choice.
>What is it called whenever people grow in soil but use liquid nutrients as if it were totally hydroponic
Fantasy.
You sure have been asking similar questions alot.. and all are easily answered my searching.. Iv suggested it before so why not do it again.
Fuck Floros, get a 250w+(no less) HPS. Floros are good for supplementing HPS, but dissapoint most growers. And grow in organic soil, with organic ferts. this will keep most growers more than happy. If you Must have hydro DWC is the bees knees.

^I know ive been asking similar questions. Its just still a little vague as to how I can setup a system.
fuck it i might aswell go HPS, but then wont I need a super expensive seed? If i spend all that money on lights i might aswell get some good strain too right?
How much would it cost a month to run a 400w hps?
