Lighting For Indoor Cacti
    #7558601 - 10/25/07 10:14 AM (16 years, 3 months ago)

Morning, everyone.

I'm looking to keep my cacti going through the winter, and I'm wondering what the best choice in lighting would be.

There's a vast array of options out there, and it's all a bit daunting trying to consider them all.

I've got about $300 to spend...

So, any suggestions?

Good vibes, and thanks in advance. :hippie:

Thank you.

I'd been leaning towards HPS...

Have a nice day. :sunny:

Just make sure to use 200W or more, the ones with lower wattage tend to give off to much heat in comparison to light.

And how about fans?

What exactly is the purpose?  Keeping the bulb/reflector from overheating?

How do they figure into the setup?  Pull air away, introduce cool air?

Sorry for all the questions.  Just want to make a good investment.

cacti like heat man... no need to worry about cooling the light itself, but a fan in the room to circulate the air would be a good idea.

i use a box fan in the room
I have my ballast right in front of it to keep the transformer windings from heating up and melting.

Get a 400w switchable, then you could throw in a couple pot plants
