Don't have your answer, but mine are dried, in honey. I hear they last indefinitely that way. As potent as day 1...or 2.

make sure they are 100% dry and u can store them in any air tight container, 24 hours just doesnt seem long enough for them to be cracker dry...
a glass jar would be better than a bag...

ive stored in a jar for over a year with no noticable loss of potency, if im going to keep them longer than that i usually wrap them in a million layers of plastic and tape and bung them in the freezer...
the honey method does work, but the chance of contaminating the honey puts me off that method...

Honey won't contaminate. Honey contains SO much sugar that no bacterias have a chance to fuck it up. That's why you've never seen any rotten honey, although there are always so many breadcrumbs in there

either way, i dont think this fellow will be storing them for any length of time, so an airtight container would be sufficient.

That's right... I wish I had a HUGE freezer (like the ones you can store corpses in). I would need SPAAACE!

no honey is the worst thing you can do , do it you will regret latter .if you put fresh mushrooms in honey you will end with a black gooey liquid, ha ha eat that, then if you proper dry the mushrooms and then put then in honey with no air nothing and you seal it and don't open in a year still most will be there , but sure some Will lose honey have bactericides and many hydroxide that interact with psilocybine , so the best method is freeze dry , and air out , can last for more than 3 years ....honey was in the 70¨s sorry if sound rude i´m not trying that, is far better the chocolate method ..have a good day all my best

>"honey have bactericides and many hydroxide that interact with psilocybin"
Cactu, Can you provide the source for that statement? I'm really curious. I didn't know this was a dated(old-fashioned) method of storage. Hmmm, so much conflicting info. I knew that honey was the only food item that never spoils(because of sugar and natural bacteria), but I didn't know they reacted with psiloc(yb)in. I better consume all of my blue honey soon!;)
Also, i would assume no one in their right mind would store fresh wet mushrooms in something for a long period of time. This, I learned. One time, a long long time ago, (actually a couple weeks ago) I placed 2 fresh clean chili peppers in ex. virgin olive oil to make chili oil a couple weeks ago. It tasted nice for a couple days to a week, but yesterday was a different story. Smelled and tasted AWFUL! Rotten peppers, not nice...Lesson learned. Should have known. Dry them first.

Well, I would have thought that they would take longer to dry aswel but when i checked them they were almost completely dry, like crispy dry! anyway, ive put them in a OZ dodgie bag and theve been in their for a day now, seem fine, not slimey and don't smell bad so im assuming there ok. I won't need to store them for that long though, just a couple weeks tops... Will be eating em soon Ive worked out that ive picked enough for about 20g dried, possibly a bit more. will be out again though in about a week looking for more. thanks for the ideas anyway.

well Jesus, no i can´t but if you look in the growing section you will see they use honey to grow mycelium , well honey don´t degraded fast and can stay that way if is not contaminated, it sure have lot of sugar, bactericides, and hydroxides, so when you put let say a fresh mushrooms , in that mushrooms many bacteria are there , many , then what we do we close the lid of the jar with the inoculum if you store for 2 week is OK still the bactericide and all the stuff in honey can still fight the bacteria, but then after this time they begging to reproduce more and more anaerobic bacteria, also the smell begging to change in the honey , a fermented odor, then it became liquid , with proper dry mushrooms is the same story but a more slow process, honey is only good if you can dry shrooms fast, or any conditions, but you have to know fresh they will begging to degrade the first minute you put then in the honey so eat then fast, also i hate to be sucking a crazy flavored honey that i can eat in the second try , to sweet, and i does not taste like the original honey any more, i do not have a link for it but the experience of more than 10 years, if it worth of something . Is crazy how the Indians store the mushrooms in honey in Oaxaca ,just because they said the foreigner told then to do so,but is the only method they have i mean if they dry the mushrooms they don't put it in airtight container, and that why they said that dry mushrooms don´t work because they can´t dry then , bone dry , they said this also with salvia, but we can do better ,we can complete dry and store in the freezer with no light and can last for years that way, freeze dry is the best method but is expensive for all of us. the fact that you said you must eat your blue honey , probe what i said, that is psilocybin oxidation,
never try the chocolate method ? is the best in some cases..
i have read many thing but begging to undestand then when i could probe then or see it for miself , do some experiment , that how we human are we don´t believe it until we see it .............

hmm, I see what you are saying cactu. From that angle, it certainly makes sense that drying to cracker dry and placed in an air tight container would be the best. I just had this stubborn idea about honey being resistant to "degradation" or spoilage. I figured, what better thing to suspend mushrooms in. I also like the novelty of it. Btw, I was just calling it "blue honey" because that name has been thrown around the net for a while. Its not blue at all. Anyway, I'm learning the trade just like many other newcomers. But like you, out of interests' sake, I must do experiments and research these things as well. We can't always just believe every anecdote we read in a book or internet. (not aimed at you)I'm referring to all of the conceptions and misconceptions that are thrown around daily. The internet is a great resource, but at the same time can be misleading. Experience is the best learning tool.

honey IS ok in the short term as it is very resistant to bacteria (not all types of bacteria though) but its powers fade over time...
cracker dry, airtight container, freezer, is the best long term option. u can forget the freezer for short term storage.
just remember that heat, light and air degrade chemicals and store accordingly

I dont leave mine under a fan, just on pieces of paper (shrooms not touching eachother) on a shelf in the top of a wardrobe. they went almost completely dry in like 24 hours.
