smoking causes less air to be circulated throughout the body so maybe thats it.

That happens to me when I smoke weed outside in the winter time. But I thinks it's more from the cold weather for me.

That's really weird, the only time I've ever seen someone's lips turn blue is after taking a fat nitrous rip -- this is from oxygen deprivation. It could possibly happen with weed I guess but I've smoked a lotta trees with a lotta people and I've never seen it so

I've definately seen that happen, its a combination of low blood pressure and lack of oxygen from inhaling the weed smoke. It usually only happens when someone takes a large bong rip or we're playing chicago/streetlight or whatever you wanna call it.

Funny, this happened to me for the first time the other day. I took six 1 gallon gravity bong hits over a few minutes. Came back into the house and my girlfriend said my lips were blue, somewhat similar to a whipet. Kinda concerned and thought she just trying to mess around with me, i checked in the mirror. By the time i checked i must have got some more oxygen flowing though me or something, my lips had returned to normall. But she swears she was not BS'n me...

what it comes down to is if that ever happens its a bad thing and youre oxygen deprived as the others said. so... breathe people... breathe...

The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Just recently something anoying has started happening after i toke up. My lips get blue as soon as the joint is burned. WTF? Does thc stop blood from flowing thru my lips or what. Is it lack of vitamins? Is there anything i can do because it looks stupid and is sort of embarasing. And dont say stop smoking weed.

Do you hold your hits in for a really long time? Whatever you're doing, or not doing, is causing oxygen deprivation in your lips. The lips turn blue when, just like a couple other people were saying, the lips don't have oxygen. I'd suggest changing something about your nutritional habits, like previously stated in one of the posts above. A multi-vitamin and a balanced diet will go a long way.
Are you anemic?

I've never heard that, what evidence is there of this?
My body temp seems to drop when I smoke, I end up being cold a lot. If it's because of less air circulation throughout my body might there be some kind of remedy?

I cant find I source to prove him right but I can say that it would be obvious seeing as how youre inhaling smoke and not inhaling normally.

But that would only apply if you don't space out your hits adequately. I usually take my time.

The claim that "less oxygen will be distributed throughout the body" is misleading. Physiologically, what is actually happening when you smoke is the blood vessels are constricting. What this means is that not as much blood can reach the extremities. To compensate for this, the heart works extra hard by pumping more blood in a short amount of time. This accounts for the increased heart rate while under the influence of marijuana, but a decrease in blood pressure.
What this all means, really, is that less blood will be able to be pumped to your extremities (possibly including the lips in some individuals) and as a result, less oxygen will reach these areas. This may result in cold hands or feet, blue lips, etc. So, the decreased oxygen is a symptom of the constricting blood vessels. Smoking doesn't directly cause a decrease in oxygen to these areas of the body, but indirectly it does.

Thanks, that's the kind of answer I was looking for.
Would there be any decent remedies for this? It doesn't usually bother me but every once in a while it's too much.

Well, if it counts for anything, eating it should get rid of the side-effects associated with smoking. I get the whole cold hands and feet thing when I smoke, too, but I never experience any vaso-constriction when I eat it instead. Obviously it's not always convenient or maybe not even possible to cook it all the time, but it would be a decent remedy. Or, if that isn't an option and you're really concerned, you could take something that would thin your blood like aspirin. That would lessen the effects of the vaso-constriction as your blood would have an easier time getting through the smaller blood vessels and capillaries located in your extremities, etc.
