recently my friend and I decided to try shrooms. we were at a festival and we each bought a "chocolate shroom" for $20. we decided to do them the next day (as it was late at night) so to keep them from melting we put them in our cooler. by this time most of the ice was melted so by the time we took them out and ate them the next day they were sitting in water. anyway, they didn't work. nothing happened. do you think it was the water, there weren't even shrooms in the chocolate, or what? we're planning on trying it again but obviously the first experience was disapointing.

dude, sounds to me like you got ripped. did you even feel the shrooms texture in the chocolate? i mean, people will scam the hell outta you if you let them. i had a guy seel me cut up dried store shrooms once because i didn't know any better. your best bet is to grow or pick them. i like to grow because picking them can be dangerous i've only picked once because well...if you read my post you'll figure out i'm pretty scared to ever go shroom picking again. if i were you, i'd get them from somebody you know won't screw you.

Yeah sounds like chocolate covered chocolate that you bought. Go look at some dried shrooms in the gallery and only buy mushrooms that look like that. I had no idea what they looked or tasted like before I tried them. I used to think they would look exactly like the mushrooms in Super Mario brothers. They don't really. But they do make me grow huge, until I touch a turtle of course.

yeah, I probably got ripped. but I definately ate some kind of mushroom. in fact I got a little bit sick and had to sit down shortly after taking them. looking over the effects on erowid i'm starting to think it might've just been a really low amount, like under a gram. cause even though I was smoking and drinking at the same time, I did feel quite a bit different and felt some of the things described on that site.
I don't really want to go through all the trouble of growing my own, and I don't really have a place to do it. Plus I sort of want to try them again soon -- how long does it take? I have no idea where to begin with shroom hunting. maybe if I eat em and like em i'll look into those two options.
I asked my regular (weed) dealers and no one can hook me up. everyone seems to have them but no one is willing to sell. I am going to a Phil Lesh concert tonight and I will probably buy again there. I definately won't get chocolates though.
edited to add that the guy I bought it from said it was 2.5-3.0 grams, so it should've been more than enough.

It's possible that the chocolate only had a gram or 1.5 grams. Even 2 grams does nothing to me usually; I'm just insensitive to it. I say screw the chocolates. It's a nice idea but you never really know what you're taking.
Mushrooms are hard to get here too. Same deal with the weed dealers not selling what they have. If possible, I would suggest growing them if you've got your own place or can use a friend's even. It's not terribly complicated and there's great instructions here on the shroomery. I would if my current living arrangements allowed me to. I don't know how long it might take to get fruits... maybe two months? Actually I have no idea at all but I'm sure someone here does.
Yeah it's worth shelling out for the concert even if they're not great. Just look at them. Chocolates don't give you that option. I don't know anything about shroom hunting, never really considered it but go to the hunting forum and check it out to see if there are any in your area.

Sounds like you got ripped. - Buyer Beware.
I can remember a guy telling me and a few friends how he used to "Grow his own Shrooms."He used to 'Grow them as big as he could, till they looked like upturned umbrelllas.
then dry them in a nice warm oven.
