Just my way of saying "waste of canvas, paint, time, and possibly talent".

really... you need to spend more time on something like that.

i dont believe in paintings that start with one color and is finished when the first coat dries. thats not a finished painting. even if youre going for a abstract expressionist sort of thing. or even a minimalist thing... you should still go back. ad some color or shape or highlight. anything. you could make that into a cool painting with some interesting detail work. manipulation of form and composition. something to gaze at. but right now id definitely say thats not a finished piece.

eek

the biggest misconception ever is that abstract expressionists and minimalists just put down some paint and are done.

i just hate abstract expressionists being branded essentially as loonies who don't make real art. or that the art their art is in making things look crazy..

was that directed at me as though that was my impression?
or were you agreeing with me?

cause thats what i was saying. i was saying that even if thats what he was going for (which isnt a bad thing at all) he didnt work it enough to make an aesthetically appealing painting. i just said that what he did was put down some paint and was done, which isnt what abstract expressionism is about.

Thanks for the input plexus

somehow the colors are really living and vibrant, a photo doesn't do justice. it beats a fireplace DVD
First I need to let it sink into my mind before I can proceed..

This is what I made next, with more layers etc :p (Rothko like idea)

i think that ones looking a lot cooler already. the colors just look so much more interesting. the way the orange and the yellows peek out from behind the muted lavenders. much more dynamic, even though the shapes on the canvas are simpler. keep it up.

I really like simplistic art, I like your work.
It gives off a warm feel.
Very nice!

I enjoy doing minimalistic work at times, I see a whole beautiful landscape in the first painting! Would definately put that on my wall
