Well, I actually was looking at some "pun" grips, but I like the thought of having the laser built into the grip to have room for other stuff on the rail. How long was the learning curve with the holster? It's sad, but I already am planning on another 1911. I friggin love these guns, lol. I might even get a 1911 Commander for the wifey...

Don't rely on a laser sight.
Practice practice practice and practice. If you can't put a 1 inch group at 25 yards then you need to practice more.
While a laser sight might be cool and impressive to you, you best learn like you don't have one. When it comes down to a life or death situation, it's rather rely on my instincts than a little glowing red light.

Oh trust me, I will be plinking my ass off. And actually, the laser isn't for looks. Its for when/if I have to aim startled from sleep in the pitch black. Navy seals and other special forces train they're asses FOR life and death situations, yet they use lasers. Its all about easier, faster target acquisition in low light, impulse shots.

A 1 inch group across 25 yards with a pistol? Surely you're joking right?
1 inch groups across 25 feet sounds more like it, at 25 yards consistently hitting a beercan would be pretty decent if you have a reasonably rapid draw-and-fire sequence.
I shoot air BB's and consistently hitting a bottlecap (your 1 inch target) across 25ft is about the extent of my skills with a small BB pistol using the plain fixed sights and a swift aim and fire. (no scope or laser stuff)
I can't imagine hitting a bottlecap at 75ft. that way
1 inch groups across 25 yards using the fixed sights of a 1911 or a glock? Sorry, I just don't see that happening. Can someone with actual firearm experience chime in and comment on this?

You take 15mg of Xanax a day and are going to be carrying a handgun?
There has got to be something illegal about that.

High doses of Xanax or the rebound when you miss a dose can severely impair your judgement and can make perfectly sane people commit insane acts.
If you take 15mg Xanax a day you should NOT carry a handgun. A handgun falls under "do not operate dangerous/heavy machinery when taking this drug" and at 15 fucking mg that isn't just something they say.

Sorry to hear that, but even if you notice little of it its a pharmacological truckload.
If someone shoots five bags of heroin a day but barely feels it, should he be driving a school bus?
What kind of anxiety disorder do you have? If it has anything to do with people you shouldn't carry a gun, period. Despite the drug you can have a panic attack and freak the fuck out. Or you can overreact to a perceivedly dangerous situation and pump someone full of lead under questionable circumstances.
The average mugger just wants your money. Carry two wallets, one your real wallet and one with 50 bucks in it but no bank cards etc. If you get mugged, hand over the lesser wallet. The mugger will be overjoyed to get his fix or whatever he needs money for, and would be just as glad to be out of the mugging situation quickly like you are.
When does a mugger ever say: "now gimme your SECOND wallet " It doesn't happen.
As a sidearm you can wear a can of pepper gel or pepper foam (not spray). Thats a lot easier to justify in court than a concealed handgun and a dead mugger.

It's not all about muggings my friend. Have you ever had people tweaked out walk into your house? Do you live 5 minutes walk from a "projects"? How many carjackings occur around your block? Have you ever had a gun pulled on you? Have you ever had a knife pulled on you? Have you ever been shot at? The world isn't always happy and carefree my friend, and there isn't always a happy and non-violent way to end a situation whilst keeping your life.
I have been the victim of all the above. I WILL NOT let the same happen to my new family. I have no problem telling that to a judge at a hearing. As to my anxiety disorder, I don't have "triggers". I don't have attacks based on my environment. They are random, and I don't "freak-out". When they do occur, I realize I'm just having an attack and take a Xanax. Been doing it for years, no biggie. It's not guns that kill people Wiccan, people kill people.
If your anxiety concerns were relevant, then I would already have been in jail for grabbing the nearest object and beating people just because I'm having an attack. If you don't like guns, then post in a more "warm and fuzzy" thread. Thats all I have to say, and I'm not going to argue. Arguing on the internet is like the Special Olympics. Even if you win, your still retarded...

I don't know you, but generally people with a serious anxiety disorder who are on a truckload of xanax aren't the best candidates to walk around with a gun.
15mg xanax = 60 pills of 0.25 mg. You eat two boxes of regular-strength Xanax a day. That's the equivalent of 300mg Valium. Taking that or skipping a dose can make any person freak out completely unexpectedly.

Carrying a gun changes a man. And that man is heavily medicated on judgement impairing drugs for psychiatric reasons.

I'm in no way an anti-gun person.
I hope you can move to a location where life is safer, and that you can find a way to deal with your harsh medical situation.
Find a way to take your family to safety man, from what you're describing you got to get outta Dodge.
