That is illegal IIRC, I remember an FN press release stating that they will not allow that gun or ammo to be sold to the public.
Wrong. The Five-Seven is completely legal for civilian transfer and use.
Quote:
Some military and police personnel view the 5.7 x 28 mm SS190 skeptically, although it is touted as a solution to defeating modern body armor. Many regard the SS190 as having insufficient "stopping power" for law enforcement use and this topic has seen much debate. A brief controversy ensued in the United States in 2004 when it was claimed by the Brady Campaign that the civilian-legal SS192 cartridges are able to pierce Level IIA body armor when fired from the Five-seveN pistol. All civilian-legal game hunting cartridges, and even several pistol cartridges, are capable of such penetration. The ability of SS192 to pierce body armor as claimed by the Brady Campaign was not confirmed with facts or data by any authoritative agencies or sources. The ammunition was not restricted for civilian sales, since it is not legally recognized as armor piercing by the BATFE. Nonetheless, FN chose to withdraw the SS192 from the market and replace it with the SS196SR.

Not the .50 Action Express.
.50bmg has great penetration against non hardened armor, but a .50AE pistol round won't do jack shit comparatively.
.50BMG has about 5 times the energy and travels about twice as fast as a .50AE.
I was always under the impression that a .50 "Desert Eagle" was designed to take down or damage low flying helicopters... I heard a story where someone lies down on their back, and when a chopper flys over, they simply dump all 7 rounds into the belly.
I have no idea if it's true or not, but I was told that.
What Arnold Schwarzenegger movie did that come from?

in VA you need a Class 3 weapons permit to get a silencer, and you can't shoot within X distance of houses/streets anyways.
would be nice to be able to shoot in the backyard. thank god the range is 5min from my house

What's the point of whether or not the ammo is recognized as AP?
In the eyes of the ATF it makes a huge amount of difference.
Their definition of AP is any round that has a hardened steel, tungsten, or other hard inner core.
It makes no difference whether or not soft core bullets will defeat armor, as many civilian round will. It's all about the composition of the inner core.

Thank God for Bush, he also reversed Klintons AWB.
Bush didn't do anything to "reverse" the AWB. It was up for a 10 year renewal in the Senate and was voted down 8-90.
Bush had previously promised to sign the renewed bill into law if it passed through the senate, but of course it didn't.

This is where its at
CZ-52

fires a 7.62x25 caliber round with a muzzle velocity of around 1200 fps. Considering I load my own bullets, I am currently using an 85 grain slug. but they range from 71-95.

This firing mechanism (called a roller locking mechanism) was built off of the same concept for world war II's infamous mg-42. This basically means that you are guaranteed your 7 shots. Shoots real nice too, real comfortable and fucking accurate. This would be my suggested purchase. Bought mine for $175!
Note to the OP: I suggested this pistol solely for the fact that I have had plenty of experiences with no good jammin' ass 45's. A lot of the time, its the magazine, but some just seem destined to jam once in a while. My cz hasn't jammed once since I bought it... If it weren't for this pistol, I would have suggested you purchase a .357; with a revolver, you always get your six, no ifs ands or buts.

As far as jamming, most people don't realize that you have to dump at least 50 rounds minimum to break it in. And I hate to even think about stopping at 50, but more like 500. A good 1911 jams/stovepipes etc at higher grains. I'm giddy as a schoolgirl right now. Now, I need to find a cheap open carry holster, lol. I love my state
